Bremen Comes From Behind To Defeat Glenn The John Glenn Falcons traveled to Bremen Saturday night and after a rough and tough 32 minutes of basketball played the hard way. a lot of battling on the boards and on the floor, the Falcons returned home with defeat number 10 of the season in 13 outings. Not onl\ did the Falcons lose the game, but the services of senior Terry Anspaugh was lost for this game and might restrict action this coming week end when a bad fall and pileup just nine seconds into the game turned his face into almost something out of a horror movie. scrappy Anspaugh who has recently found a home playing on the inside for coach Jim Waller's Falcons. The accident held up play just after it started for a short time and when it resumed, the two teams started to slug it out back and forth. The host lions jumped to an 8-2 lead, but Craig Ochs canned a pair of baskets and Mike Elkin converted a three point play to push the Falcons in front 9-8. From here on out the rest of the quarter it was back and forth, trading points for points until the buzzer sounded the end of the first round with Bremen in front lb-15. Jhe action was hard and somewhat rough as Glenn lately has been battling very hard especially on the boards as they do have some players who can get physical and the result, with Bremen much the same type underneath, was a lot of fouls. The foul shooting contest started in the second quarter after both teams had easily passed the four common foul points. Bremen outscored the Falcons 19-18 with 11 of the Lions' points coming from the 15 foot stripe as did 10 of the Falcons' in this period. Add to

that four baskets each and the halftime lead still belonged to the host team 35-33. Then came the Falcons downfall. Lhey went completely cold in the second half from the start. Not quite as cold as their early frigid spell the night before when they spotted Jimtown lb points without a return, but a very cool 2 for 12 shooting quarter found the Lions, also somewhat sputtering, pulling a little further ahead to take command of the game. Add to this the fact that Glenn's depth was seriously hurt with the loss of Anspaugh as coach Waller is only dressing eight boys strictly for varsits with several B Learners being saved one quarter for necessary action if needed. The ranks were wearing a little thin with the fouls piling up and both teams had to use the bench with Bremen having more experience coming off the sidelines than Glenn, especially with Anspaugh through for the night. Bremen pulled to a 46-38 lead going into the final stanza. This led to another period of considerable free throw shooting as the Falcons, in an effort to get back in the game, had to force the action somewhat and lost two players via the five foul route in the final stanza. Baskets were not frequent. but the free throws were enough to allow the hosts to hang on and actually expand their lead as they pulled away for the 61-49 victory. Glenn managed only lb points in the entire second half as shooting wasn't very sharp and they just couldn't pull the same type of come-from-behind magic they had going Friday night at home. Bremen had good balance, seven players splitting the bl points with Andy Swain and Gene Davis each hitting 14 w hile Kent Adams added 11 for double figure totals. The Falcons were led by Ochs with 19, but Tinkey was the only other Falcon who could reach double figures with 10 and the points fell off behind these two. Bremen shot a much better 20 out of 47 w hile the colder Falcons managed only lb of 47 from the floor. From the line the Glenn boys hit a fine 17 of 21 and Bremen was also very respectable with 21 of 28 as Glenn was whistled for six more personals than the Lions. Bremen Reserves Win The Bremen B-Team made the night a sweep taking a 50-34 decision from the Glenn reserves. Box Score Bremen fg ft p Davis b 2 4 K.
