On luesdav night, the Glenn gsm will be the site of the B leam second round with Monday's winners meeting for the right to play Saturdav night in the championship set and the girls teams will meet in the second game at ' 45 at (ilenn to likewise advance to LaVille. Ihe same format will be at Bremen High School for the Marshall Counts Pis ision \ special tuket arrangement for the B 11 am and girls action is arranged so one admission will get a fan into both sites for the Mondav games lor the price of SI.OO. It will be a SI.OO at the door admission again on Tuesday. Varsity tickets good for all four nights arc SSOO in advance or $2.00 per session at the dcxirs at LaVille on a first come, first served basis. I he tw o local schools w ill both be trsing. not only for the boys' title, but for a little revenge from last scar as the North Liberty B-Team was beaten in the final game by Vgos 41-35 and the Glenn girls, placing without their leading scocrcr. Mary Huffstetter, fell 52-46 to the C ulver ( ommunity girls in the final game. Glenn has dominated the girls division of the tourney over the years, but more balance has been seen in recent sears as the program continues to grow. Happy ads do spread happiness!
Fifth & Sixth Grade Tourney This Saturday Ihe fifth and sixth grade boss basketball tournament will be held on Saturday. January 12. at John (>lenn High School gsm with the following four teams participating. Bremen. Lakeville. North I iberts and Ures Middle School. Ihe first game at 9:00 a.m. will hasc Bremen and Lakes die fifth grade teams playing followed at 10:15 by Walkerton and North I iberts. At 11:30 a.m. Bremen and Lakeville sixth grade teams will compete followed bs Ures and North Liberty at 12:45. Ihe fifth grade championship game will be at 2:00 p.m. and the sixth grade championship game at 3:15 p.m. Ihe doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Sandwiches and drinks will be available. Admission for adults is set at $2.00 and students SI.OO for all games and for single sessions adults $1 .(X) and students 50 cents. 4-Way Tourney To Be Held At North Liberty The 12th four-way freshman basketball tourney will be held at North Liberty on Saturday. Janaury 12. The four teams involved in the annual event arc LaVille. John (ilenn. Neu Prairie and North Liberty. North Liberty is the defending champion. Games will be at 9:00 a.m.; 1015 a.m.; 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. The drawing of the teams was held on 1 uesdav evening at half time of the Shamrocks and John Glenn game. Firemen Offer To Inspect Wood Burning Devices Duc to the increased cost in heating fuel, more and more people have gone to the use of various wood burning devices to save money. Many people will install these devices themselves with a large percent doing them incorrectly due to ventilation, wall clearance and chimney smoke exhaust. Any umt purchased that has been U.L approved will have a complete list of instructions for installation which should be read and followed carefully. If any individual would like an inspection by your local fire department. we would be glad to be of service. This cannot be 100% guaranteed there will not be a fire caused by this device, but the training of the men could detect a malfunction in the unit or defect in the installation which could cause the possibility of a fire. UNCOLN TOWNSHIP HOMEMAKERS MEET The Lincoln Township Homemakers Club met on Wednesday, January 2. at 1:30 p.m. at the Walkerton Community Building with 15 members and one guest present. The pledge to the flag and the repeating of the club creed opened the meeting. Ihe song of the month. “Auld Lang Signe" and Happy New Year wrre sung by all. Mrs. Helen Decker read a tribute to the club in honor of Mrs. George Ochs, who passed away in December. Ihe committee for the day was Mrs Martha Young, Mrs. Leia Ruin and Mrs. Elizabeth Hess. Ihe treasurer's report was read and the minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs Nedra Smith in the absence of Mrs Nora Hahn.
