A DIFFERENT KIND OF PEOPLE There is no doubt th.it the top slorv and concern in the news of today and the last month has been the situation in Iran. It is a situation that everyone has then own ideas about, but really a situation that almost as mans know nothing about The “other side in this war of nerves consists of “a different kind of people" Despite what we mas hear and derive in our own minds about the so called students and terrorists that are responsible for the taking and holding of the b? and now 49 American hostages, these people are a different kind of people Mans think of Iran as an ultra rich nation due to the oil in that country. However. Iran is quite the opposite when sou get away from the scry few that control this valuable asset and wealth Iran has about 40 per cent unemplosmerit and the financial situation and unrest of the average person over there is such that thes are reads and ripe for such an uprising. Oser the sears the most common cause of war is unrest due to economic or overcrowded conditions. Ihe continual reaching out for more bs the nations hard hit has often found this greed and want causing feelings that we. as fortunate and basically well-heeled Americans simpls do not know of Ihe wants and needs of people in situations such as this is something we hope we neser will feel. True, it has developed into a situation where Americans arc at danger on a very small basis, but again we state that these people are presently really a different kind of person. It is everyone's hope that through the efforts of the United States government and its leaders and also through the assist the United Nations is trving to give, that the hostages being held are safely released and the involvement concerning the United States is ended. However, this is not going to end the problems in that country or in the Islamic nations as trouble and wars has been a part of their lives for years and years and years and will continue to be. When we talk of world peace, this ccrtainlv is a goal that is almost unreachable as the tiny problems that exist now and have for years between many of the small nations are not going to go away overnight. It is simply that this latest uprising has drawn the United States into it directly that makes us realize what a problem there really is. Now is the time we. as Americans, must stand behind our leaders who are trying, and trving very sincerely and hard, the cliviate this situation as best possible. I his is not the time to site our leaders as politicians, but rather as "the leaders" they are as they try with all sincerity to bring our Americans back home safely . And add to this, the many Iranians who are not a part of this are no more responsible than the rest of the world. Their country was ripe for trouble, it has problems and we have been drawn into it almost as an innocent bystander by these people who we trulhfullv feel are "a different kind of people". WHEN...
