North Liberty Girls Season Opens With Wins The North Liberty girls basketball teams opened their 19’’9-80 season of Friday, November 10. at South Bend Washington. The Shamrocks defeated the Panthers 35-31. Shelley Wileox led the scoring for Liberty with 11 while Jenny Maenhout and Jill Knowlton added eight and seven respectively for the winning effort. Washington s Brenda Brooks was the game's leading scorer with 17. Maenhout did a tremendous job defensively on Brooks in the second half, holding her to two. The leading rebounders for Liberty were Wilcox w ith 10 and Knowlton with nine. On Saturday. November 17 the Shamrocks traveled to Argos where thev easily defeated the Dragons. 33-16. Maenhout was the leading scorer with 18. Knowlton was second with nine points and she was also the leading rebounder with nine. The North Liberty B-Team won a close preliminary contest 11-10.
