Shake Up In Police Dept. And Shooting Episode One Walkerton police officer resigned. Ed Bracich. assistant chief, at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. October 22. stating that he couldn’t work with police chief John Marek. Also that day. patrolman Norman Clark was fired from the department at 11:30 p.m. October 22 after chief Marek discussed the matter with members of the Town Board. ( lark had only been a patrolman lor the department for 32 days. Reserve officer, Rudy Adams, second in command with the rank of captain, was hired as the other full time officer Remaining on the department also is Delmas Burch, who is at the Indiana Police Training Academy and won t be available for active duty until December 22. At 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday while on routine patrol, officer Adams was in the process of conlucting a security check at the John Glenn High School, at the rear of the building, cast side, and about 25 yards from the alcove of the structure, when he saw a shadow or movement in the alcove. He then drove into the area and checked the surroundings from the squad car using the spot light. Nothing was observed at that time He proceeded to check the doors, w indow s and general surroundings on foot and noticed nothing unusual. Neighborhood Public Meeting On November 8 Residents of the Tyler Harrison neighborhood are asked to comment of the ongoing project at a public meeting set for Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Walkerton Community Building. The project is in the final stages. The grant of $393,000 for community development was obtained from the Department of Housing and Urban Development last year. PARENT VISITATION DAY SET FOR NOV. | Urey Middle School. Walkerton, has set November 1 as Parent Visitation Day for parents of the school’s students from 12:30 to 5:00 or 6:(X) to 8:00 p.m. Parents will be visiting with the teachers and guidance counselor. As they enter the school they will sign up to be scheduled for conferences with individual teachers. Conferences will last approxi matefy 15 minutes. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
