Tax Seminar To Be Presented In Walkerton A tax seminar for individuals, small business owners and farmers will be presented at John Glenn High School on Saturday. November 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I he seminar will cover tax laws and rulings affecting 1979. capital gains and losses, depreciation, investment tax credits, income averaging, capital improvements, new jobs credit, moving expenses, support and alimony, deductions, sale of personal residence, etc. Fhe program will be oriented toward minimizing tax liability thru acceptable accounting methods and internal revenue rulings. James F. Foster, a licensed public accountant will conduct the seminar. He is a 1957 graduate of Walkerton High School, and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from LaSalle Extension University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ashland College. His career covers 15 years of corporate and public accounting experience. He is a member of the Ohio Society of Public Accountants, and the National Society of Public Accountants. ster and Marv Torreano. J OBITUARIES MRS. PAUL PONTIUS Mrs. Paul (Inez) Pontius. 55. Route 4. Walkerton, died at 4:00 a m. on Saturday, October 20. at her home. She was born on March 25. 1924. in Marshall Countv and on November 9. 1940. she married Paul Pontius, in Marshall Countv, w ho survives. Surviving along with her husband are three daughters. Mrs. Bud (Evelyn) Schnieder, of South Whitley. Miss Barbara Pontius, of Anderson and Miss Carrol Pontius, ot Milford; four sons. Wayne, of Walkerton, Larn and Allen, of Plymouth and Mark, of Argos; 18 grandchildren; four sisters. Mrs. Thelma Wooley. Mrs. Mildred Servis and Mrs. Patricia Dixon, all of Plymouth and Mrs. Marv Nissen. of Rochester; two brothers, Richard Cox. of Plymouth and Donald Cox, of Fort Wavne and her mother, 110 Cox. of Plymouth. Iwo children preceded her in death. Services were at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home. Plymouth, with Rev. lames Gilmore officiating. Burial was in New Oak Hill Cemeterx. Plymouth. MRS. DOROTHY EGGER Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Mondav, October 22. at the Westlawn Cemtery. North Liberty, for Mrs. Dorothy Egger. 65, Muncie, formerly of North Liberty, who died on Ihursdav afternoon at Parkview Nursing Home, Muncie, after a 14 month illness. She was born on September 4, 1914. at Ashley, she went to Muncie 16 years ago from North Liberty. Surviving are four children. Mrs. Ellen Thomas, of Spring Valley, California. Dr. John Egger, of Richmond, Dr. Ross Egger, of Middletown and Charles Egger, of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Kemps, of Ashley and a brother. Ross Wright, of Land of Lakes. Florida. Rev. Gaylord Saltzgaber. pastor of the North Liberty United Methodist Church conducted the service.

North Dakota. He had lived in this area since 1024 coming from North Dakota. On September 21. 1929. he married Reba Miller, of Mishawaka, in Warsaw, who survives along with a step-son, H. E. Miller, of Orlando. Florida; four grandchildren; three sisters. Mrs. Ed Steiger. Cavalier. North Dakota, Mrs. Annie Knacke. Hutchinson, Minnesota and Mrs. Rax Lysen, Minneapolis, Minnesota and two brothers. Paul, of Milwaukee. Wisconsin and Ed, of Waukcha. Wisconsin. Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Palmer Memorial ( hapel, Lakeville, with Rev. O. I). Lovell, pastor of the Olive Branch United Brethren in Christ Church, officiating. NEWS Presiding Worthy Matrons and Patrons of District 20 Order of the Eastern Star Chapters were special guests of the Walkerton chapter, Tuesday evening, October 16, along with the District Deputy. Katherine Myers, of Osceola. Close to 1 (X) were seated when Worthy Matron Florence Erickson extended her welcome. Mrs. Myers was escorted to the west. Sirs. Erickson, quoted in rhyme, "You are such a nice person." She was taken to the east thru an aisle of 22 ot her "kids" holding Halloween plackards and receiving a plastic pumpkin filled with gixxlies. She was presented bv Mrs. Erickson and seated in the east. Iwo district chairmen and two grand representatives were introduced. The chapter was called to east and the Walkerton officers relinquished their stations to the visitors who gave the degree work to Danny and Shirley Awald, of Walkerton. Seated in the east as Worthy Matron was Kathleen Brewer, of Bremen; Joe Tumbleson. of Mishawaka and Myron Mullet, of Walkerton, who gave the scripture reading and Walkerton's Worthy Patron, Don Wolfenberger. George Pfeiffer, a past patron of a Chicago chapter, who resides at Kixmtz Lake but a loyal visitor to the Walkerton chapter, contributed to the birthday bank. Donna Tennison gave a report of the recently held bazaar. Protemming for the Walkerton officers were Judy Hillman and Lowell Cummins. Worths Matron Erickson closed the meeting with a thought, to have a friend is to be a friend, and the large attendance proved just that. For the social hour the guests found a seasonal decor of leaves, pumpkins and bitter sweet. Cider, coffee, gingerbread and candies were served bx Jane Chapman, Iris Jones and Ella Nusbaum. The guests received crocheted Christmas d<x»r knob covers from the kxal chapter. There were several Chicago chapters also represented lor the evening. Helen Freeman opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag followed bx the repeating of the club creed. Roll call was answered with a house plant tip. Ihe secretary report was read bx Evelyn F.ddinger and the treasurer's report was given bx Norma Eddinger. All joined in on the Halloween song. Ihe health and safety lesson on fire prevention was given by Gerri Ruby. I he craft lessons were cancelled until November on account of illness. So bring your odds and ends of trim and beads for decorating ( hristmas ornaments and crochet h<x»ks and yarn if you prefer to crochet. I he meeting was closed with the singing of the club prayer. Congratulations to Marily n Sherland for being the Grand Champion winner at the St. Joseph County "Bake-Off" on Wednesday. October 3. Marilyn won in the veast bread division. Refreshments were served by the hostesses Mrs. Fayetta Dunn and Mrs. Rose Minter. Door prizes were received bx Marx Hahn and Evelyn Eddinger.
