ARC OE STARKE AND MARSHAL! COUNTS TEA The annual leathers lea. sponsored by the Association for Retarded Citizens of Starke and Marshall County, was held on Tuesdax evening in the meeting room of The State Exchange Bank in Plymouth. Parents and members of the ARC were invited, and Special Education teachers from Jefferson. Webster. West Township, Washington and Argos schools were present. Refreshment and “Mixer" games created a cons iv lai evening Mrs. Don Erance. President of ARC. gave a warm reception to the guests, and she described the functions and aims of the local ARC She urged teachers and parents to become involved in the association, both tor the help they could offer and the assistance thex might receive. Refreshments were furnished by Joan Joyce. Lucille France and Nadine Keiper. Games were conducted by Mrs. Keiper. The next regular meeting will be held on November 2()th. at the MarshallStarke Development Center. The NARC 1980 calendars were dispensed by ARC treasurer. Mrs. Richard Joyce, to those w ishing to sell them. The calendars are beautiful, and sell for $1.50. proceeds going to the local and the

Duc to the time change in Starke County in October, the November meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. Plymouth time. This time will remain until the time changes again next spring. REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT I nited Telephone Company of Indiana offuals announced on October 19. that they have reached a tentative agreement with local officials of the C.W.A. The C.W.A. is awaiting contract approval from their national headquarters before presenting it to their members for a v ote. Negotiations between United T elephone and C.W.A. locals 5775 and 5”82 began October 2. The current contract was originally to have expired on October 14. but several expansions were granted as negotiations continued. A federal mediator was called on the scene October 11 after an impasse had been reached. If C.W.A. national officials approve the contract, it will be approximately one week before it is brought before union members for a vote.
