GLENN GIRLS WIN OWN VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY The John Glenn girls upset a favored Knox team in the opening game of the John Glenn invitational volleyball tourney last Saturdav and then went on to claim the title in the afternoon by topping Culver to claim first place in the tourney. Culver was a first round winner over Oregon-Davis and in the consolation game. Knox defeated Oregon-Davis for third place. in the opening match. Glenn lost the first game ’-15. but came back strong with 15-10 and 15-8 victories to advance to the finals. For the Lady Falcons. Pam Aitken had a 2 ’1 serving average. Julie Cline and Anne Huffstetter had a 2.2 passing average. Aitken. Traci Florian and Huffstetter all had 4 kills for the leading spikers. Culver then defeated OregonDavis by scores of 15-10 and 15-13 to also advance to the finals. In the consolation match. Knox downed Oregon-Dav is 11-15, 15-’ and 15-7. In the finals it was Glenn winning by scores of 15-8, 9-15 and 15- for the title. Tammy Tuttle had a serving average of 3.2 while Pam Aitken had a serving accuracy of 16 out of 16 on the court. Aitken also was the leading passer with a 2.2 average and she led the team in j kills with five spikes. This raised the Glenn team | record to a 12 win and 5 loss record I as the team heads into the final | week prior to the sectional tournev. j UREY VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATS SOUTH CENTRAL I The Urey Panterettes seventh I and eighth grade volleyball teams I defeated South Central on October I 11 Ihe seventh grade won bv I scores of 9-15. 15-9 and 15-7. The Urey girls then defeated LaVille in the consolation game to secure third place in the tourney by scores of 15-2, 14-16 and 15-12. The junior varsity also topped Jimtown by scores of 16-14 and 15-3 to even their record at 8-8 for the year while Jimtown’s reserves are also I -9. Sunday night is "the big one" for prime time TV viewing, with 98.39 million Americans tuning in.
