The First United Presbyterian Church in Walkerton was the setting for the 6:30 p.m. September 20th marriage of Candance Ann Mathis and James Dean Davis. Rev. David Barnett officated the double ring ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Mathis, of LaPorte. Ind., are the parents of the bride. The bride is a graduate of John Glenn High School and Ball State University and is presently employed with American Optical. Plymouth. Indiana. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis. Walkerton. He is also a graduate of John Glenn High School. Walkerton, and is employed at A. M. General. South Bend. The bride’s gown was white angel skin knit crystal with a pleated skirt and bodice of Alencon lace encrusted with pearls with Bishop sleeves and a chapel length train. Tami Frame. Walkerton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Diane Smith. LaPorte; Rhonda Paschen. Walkerton; and Cathy Staner, Elkhart. bridesmaids. The honor attendant wore a seafoam green gown with a polyester knit with a full circular skirt, scoop neck and crystal pleated cape. The other attendants wore similar gows of jade green. Ihe best man was Steve Daube, Walkerton. Dick Pippinger, Walkerton; Gary Ernsberger. Hamlet; and Mike Davis, cousin of the groom from Bremen, were the groomsmen. Ushers were Jeff Johnson and Keith Anderson, both of Hamlet. Verice Wal/ was organist and Joe Gornick, an uncle of the groom, was the soloist. Congratulatory skywriting for the couple was done by Warren Wixxi, a friend of the bride. A reception was held at Sir James Supper Club. LaPorte. with "Spectacular Sound Disco" providing the music. A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the parents of the groom, was held at the J A J Restaurant in Walkerton. Ihe newlyweds took a trip to southern Indiana and are now making their home at Rural Route 2, Hamlet. Indiana. WESLEYAN W.M.S. church social room. There were 13 members and four guests present. President Vera Ullery opened the meeting with a scripture reading from Psalm 100:1-2. Pastor ( ripe gave the opening prayer. A Christmas gift of monev is to be sent to Eleanor Hunsinger, a Wes ley an Missionary in Africa and to Brainerd Indian Sch<x>l at Hot Springs, South Dakota. Ihe pamplet of Missionarc pictures was passed and each took a name as our "Prayer Partner". October " has been designated as a World Day of Prayer and Fasting. All ladies were asked to participate. Rev. Cripe introduced Boh and Wanda Deßolt, of South Bend, who are instructors in Child Evangel ism. Bob talked and showed slides of the Gixxi News Club. Wanda told of a few of her many experiences with children. It was interesting and very encouraging. We hope to have a Good News Club in Walkerton in the near future.
