VOLLEYBALL TEAMS SPLIT WITH TRITON On Ihursday evening, the North Liberty girls volleyball teams split their matches with Triton The varsity won in two games while the junior varsity lost in three games to Triton.

SHAMROCK RUNNERS WIN OVER JIMTOWN The North Liberty Cross Country team scored a 23-38 victory over Jimtown on Thursday. September 20. This boosted their record to 2-2 tn Northern State Conference competition and 5-4 overall. Troy Dillon and Scott Walker led the pack of Liberty runners. SHAMROCK NETTERS SURPRISE MARIAN I he Shamrocks tennis team surprised a good Marian team on Ihursday, September 20. with a decisive victory of 4-1 Brian Donathen and Ron Price won their singles matches while Larry O'Connor and Don Stevens and Jay Richmond and Bob I oucks won their doubles matehes. O.E.S. NEWS Walkerton Chapter 319, Order of the Eastern Star, honored past matrons and past patrons at a stated meeting Tuesday. September IK. Worthy matron Florence Erickson greeted sideliners and officers with a poem, "Beautiful

Fall’’. Following the ritualistic opening and business, Mrs. Erickson presented Mr. Warner Clark. Walkerton. his 25 year pin as a member of Walkerton chapter. Six others unable to attend were: Iva Clark and John McCombs. Walkerton; Harold and Mary Kay Stuver, of Longboat Key, Florida; Lillian Labus. New Port Richey. Florida; and Burdette Jones Schlosser, of Kennewick. Washington. These pins will be mailed to out of town members. Bette Wolfenbarger reported on the success of the building committee's three recent dinners. The next and last dinner this year will be held October 20 and beef will be served. Rainbow Assembly M will be honored at the October 2 meeting. Ihe October 10 meeting visiting matrons and patrons of District 20 will be honored guests and will participate in gising the initiation degree to two candidates. Another date to remember is a bake sale and bazaar to be held at the Temple on Saturday . October 6 from 9:00 to 5:00. Memorial donations were made

to the ( hair Lift Fund from the Mary Oplinger and Everett Shinn families. The charter was draped for 30 days in memory of Brother Everett Shinn. Twenty past matrons and past patrons were escorted to the west, facing cast and welcomed by Mrs. Erickson. The conductresses presented each with a gift from the chapter. Contributing to the birthday bank were Dee Neindorf and ( arohne Newell, whois ill but sent her donation and a note of affection. I he social hour was hosted by Vi Bregi and Helen Smith, our associate members at Koontz 1 ake. EDITORIALS FOR WORKSHOP Ihe confusing state of the world was evaluated on Monday evening when members of the Writers Workshop wrote editorials. Meeting at the Koontz Lake I ibrarv. the writers came well prepared and showed real editorial ability. Subjects ranged from the time change that Starke (ounty endures annually to outer space speculation. 1 hree new writers were welcomed. Shirley Richie's "(redibilitv Today echoed the bewilderment of the average citizen who attempts to make sense out of the state of the world. Other subjects for commentary were "men's lib" by Nadine Keiper and "Is Private School the Answer?" by June Masters. Ihe assignment for October is to conceive a new and far-out idea for a magazine for a very exclusive readership. This was suggested by a Saturday Review contest, and some members have indicated their intention of submitting their brainyhikkren to the magazine for the competition. Ihe Writers Workshop will meet again on Monday. October 15. at "':3O p.m. at the Koontz Lake library. All writers are welcome to drop in.
