WALKERTON TOWN BOARD NEWS The Walkerton Town Board met n regular session on Monday, \ugust 20 with all members presnt. A discussion was held on stablishing new guidelines for new building permits. The Planning Commission will be having a special meeting to elaborate on the present ordinances covering buildng permits. Mr. Hipskind, of ! akeville. was extended permission • o operate a survey on the possibility of bring cable TV to Walkrton. A letter from the Area Planning ( ommission cleared up the matter I the four and six inch water lines ring run to the new subdivision of Williams Supply Co. stating that ne plans submitted called for six inch lines and conformed to the ode. Therefore any attempt to eceive financial aid from the towg for the difference between the four nd six inch lines would be a leviation from the approved submitted plan and would result in a lenial of hts Phase 1 plot plan. A contract with Walsh and Kelly aas signed for the resurfacing of Van Buren Street. A notice to taxayers of additional appropriations <as discussed and will be conidered at the September 4 "gThe general fund in the current 979 budget of $144,210.11, had 'een cut by the State Beard of Tax ommissioners by $6,777,11 to •cep the fund within available evenue. Therefore the Board reillocated by reducing the following ippropriations in the general fund is follows: Appropriations #62 from >11,500.00 to $7,050.00, Appropriations #SB from $6,000.00 to >4,836.45. and Appropriations * >2l from $4,500.00 to $3,336.44. bus making the total of $6,777.11 verall. Bob Sante, of Hughes Associites, discussed the new set of bids tor the Community Development Program. The bids of ABC Buildrs for the Dale Ullery property a ere accepted as was the Eisen - lour Siding bid for the John Lemert ।nd Lloyd Lemert properties. The bid for the Lucille Hickman pro’erty was considered too high and herefore will be rebid. The Board discussed the propertv that belongs to the Town in the West York area. It was agreed dter proper motion and second, to reserve lots 104, 105. 106 and 107 tor the use of a Civic. Safety and Security Center. It will be inostigated todeterminie if any posibility of Federal and State fund ng will be available for such a project. Miss Laura Carter and Mr. Philip Chase were married at the Koontz Lake Missionary Church on Saturday, August 11. in an 7:00 p.m. ceremony with Rev. Lloyd George officiating. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Carter, of Walkerton. She is a graduate of John Glenn High School and Wheaton College. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chase, of Wheaton. Illinois, and is a graduate of Wheaton College. The couple was united in a traditional double-ring ceremony. Music was provided by Lois Ross at the piano, Debbie Bezingue on the viola, and Lynn Carter, vocalist. The bride’s attendants were Susan Carter, sister of the bride. Ella Marie Chase, sister of the grixim. and Lynn Carter, sister of the bride as maid of honor. The groomsmen were Harold and Timothy Chase, brothers of the groom and Jack Seaford, friend of the groom as best man. A reception followed in the church parlors. The couple will be residing at 23 W. 455. St. Charles Road, Wheaton. Illinois. Laura will be attending Loyola University School of Dentistry and Philip will study at the Universty of Illinois School of Medicine. MARRIED On Saturday, August 11. the marriage of Susan Bow Ids and Thomas Bellinger took place at '3O p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Walkerton. Mrs. Sandra Hamilton, of Sarasota. Florida, and Mr. Rod Martindale. of Walkerton, are the parents of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bellinger. Route 2. Walkerton. are the groom's parents. The couple is at home at Route 2. Walkerton. Tickets For Sporting Events On Sale Single admission ticket prices for home athletic events at John Glenn High School will be as follows for the 19'9-1980 school year: Varsity football and basketball — adult. $2.00; student. $1.50; kindergarten thru grade 5, SI.OO. All other sports to include frosh football, volleyball, frosh basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and girls basketball — adults, $1.00; student. $ .50; kindergarten thru grade 5. $ .25. Season tickets for all John Glenn High School athletic events will go on sale Monday , August 27. at the high school prinicpal's office and at the first home varsity football game against Fairfield on September 7 Season ticket prices this year will be: Combination — adults, $17.00; students. $11.00; kindergarten thru grade 5. $4.00. August 23 Is Caucus Date For Republicans The Republican Convention will be held on August 23. 1979 at the Community Building at 7:30 p.m. The Convention is to be held for the purpose of selecting the nominees for all tow n officers to be elected at the ensuing town election. N.L. Republican Convention Friday Night The North Liberty Republican Convention will be held on Fridav night. August 24. at 7:30 p.m. in the North Liberty town hall. The purpose is to nominate officers for the town election. Town Republicans are urged to attend. Lorraine Perkins is the chairman. Glenn Opens Football Play At Bremen The John Glenn Falcons football team will travel to Bremen this Friday evening. August 24. for their first football game of the season. The game with the Lions will start at 7:30 p.m. P-L-J SCHOOL BOARD NEWS The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation met in regular session on Tuesday , August 21. Superintendent Harold Muncie stated that all certified positions for the 19 7 91980 school year arc filled except one industrial arts teacher for John Glenn High School. The School Board announced that contrary to an earlier statement in the "South Bend Tribune" there has been no official decision determined by the school board relating to receiving or not receiving students from the North Liberty area into our school corporation in the near future. There has been no contact by the North Liberty Community to even warrant such a consideration at this time. The board set the following cash transfer tuition costs per year for the following grades: kindergarten. $500.00; grades one through five. $983.32; grades six through eight. $1,135.04; and grades nine through 12. $1,139.46. Payments will be made in two installments, one at the beginning of each semester. I he board accepted resignations from Dan Slabaugh. vocal music; Dennis Bhximfield, band director; Mike Bauer, industrial arts; and Cheryl Poteet, mathematics. The board appointed Catherine Van Duyne, a graduate of Indiana University, as vocal music instructor; and Carl Doherty, previous band director from Randolph Southern School Corporation, as band director. The board authorized the superintendent to issue temporary contracts for the 19'9 school year to certified emplovees until negotiations between the teacher association and the school board have been completed and ratified by both parties. Alvin Boise, guidance director at John Glenn High School, was granted permission to attend the

Both teams engaged in a titanic struggle last year before North Judson won in overtime 20-13. Season tickets are one sale at the school office from 8:00 to 11:30 and 1:00 to 4:00. Season tickets w ill be $7.50 for five home games for adults and $3.75 for students. Presale prices are $1.75 for adults and SI.OO for students. Saturday . October 13. has been designated as the official homecoming game. The opponent will be Culver Community High School. Ihe traditional bixister club chick en barbecue will take place the night preceding the game. COMMUNITY CALENDAR TO RESUME AGAIN NEXT WEEK The Community Calendar will begin again next week with the different meetings, club and sport mg events, etc., that will be taking place in the Walkerton and North Liberty area.
