Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn. Jr., and family, Knox, hosted a cook out Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hahn and sons, of Plymouth and Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn. Sr. and family, of Walkerton. Mr. George Masterman. of New Carlisle, spent ten days here with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Masterman and family, of North Carolina, will be spending the week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Masterman. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swihart and son, of Plymouth, and Mrs. Frank Thompson and children, of Joliet. Illinois, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herald Hostetler and family, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Clark returned last week from a two weeks visit to Heron. Montana, with their son. Randy Clark and family. Thursday visitors of Mrs. J. C. Scotia and her daughter came to visit. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman. of North Liberty and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Teter, of Mishawaka, came to spend the afternoon with her. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beagles and family. Mrs. Roger Hellinga and family, of Middlebury. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Anderson and Mrs. Ada Miller. This was a birthday dinner honoring Norman Beagles. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morrey, of Koontz Lake, one day last week were Mrs. John Piper and Mrs. Howard Backhoff, of Chicago, and Mrs. Evelyn Gumbert. of Valparaiso. Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Wake, of Sullivan. Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles were Saturday luncheon guests of Mrs. Arthur DeMyer. Mrs. John Schamer, Koontz Lake, spent a couple of days last week with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mole. Her granddaughter celebrated her birthday with a party while Mrs. Schamer was there. Mr. and Mrs. Burgoone Carnes, of Raleigh, North Carolina, came on Saturday for a couple of weeks stay with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Solmos. On Sunday their son, Pat, was home from South Bend for a birthday
dinner with the group. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sackville, of Decatur, Illinois, were guests of Mrs. Crystal Lawrence most of last week. Pvt. Matthew Kickbush is home tor a couple of weeks leave from Fort Lewis, Washington. In August he will leave the state of Washington and be going to Germany tor a couple of years service. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Thornburg, of Koontz Lake, will be hosting the Conservation Club dinner this Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Jacob were in Angola over the week end to visit with his father, Mr. Loyd Jacob. Mr. and Mrs. David Fitzgerald and sons, of Omaha. Nebraska, are here for the week visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fitzgerald. Miss April Watkins, of Orlando, Florida, is spending a couple of days here with her grandmother. Mrs. Ida Mae Watkins and son Jack. Other Fourth of July guests of Mrs. Watkins and Jack were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Watkins and family, of Highland and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Watkins, of South Bend. Mr. Leigh Roy Hahn spent the week of the 18 to the 23 of June in Madison, Indiana where he was a delegate for the local fire' department to the convention held on June 21. 22 and 23 at Clifty Falls State Park. Mr. and Mrs. Hahn went in their camper and camped the week having time before the convention to see the scenery around Madison and enjoyed it very much. The William Dicksons, of Koontz Lake, spent the week end in Glenview, Illinois, to attend a surprise 25th anniversary party in honor of their son. Bill and daught-er-in-law, Dorothy. The party was given by their children, Debbie, Doug and Dan and was held in the home of the Daniel Frinkauser. Eighty-five guests joined in the celebration including Dorothy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker, of Port St. Lousie, Florida. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Bowman, Koontz Lake, were hosts on Saturday evening to Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Wake, of Sullivan. Mrs. June Baker and Mr. and Mrs. John Engle, Wendy and Heather left on June 13 for a two week vacation to Chula Vista, California, with Mrs. Betty Clark and Lisa. While there they went to Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Kingdom, Disneyland, Lion Country, Old Mission San Juan Capistrano, Tijuana and Ensenada, Mexico. Father’s day they were guests of Mr. Jim Van Dyke for brunch at the Anchor Inn, San Ysidro, California. They were entertained by many of Mrs. Clark’s friends and report the trip to Ensenada, Mexico, in Mr. Tex Hastings motor home was a great experience. The scenery on the coast is beautiful. Lunch at Lawrence Welks restaruant and resort in Encondido, was most enjoyable. The group flew into South Bend on June 27 loaded down with much more baggage than they started with and looked like typical tourists, tired but very impressed with all they had seen and done. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Leota Lemert and daughters, in Hobart. DAY SPENT AT HAMILTON GROVE Eighteen United Methodist Women, of Walkerton, traveled to Hamilton Grove Retirement Home, near New Carlisle, on Friday for an interesting day. At 12:00 noon a bountiful picnic was enjoyed in the lovely grove near the home. At 1:00 p.m. the home activity director gave all a conducted tour of the various facilities in the building such as large and small occupied private rooms, two rooms and bath apartments, the dining room, crafts, laundry,
food storage, commisary, rug weaving room, barbershop, beauty parlor. Chapel and hospital area. Also the recreation room with the beautiful murals where a short program was given to about 40 members of the home. Mrs. Leonard Beaty, who had planned the day, led all in singing a few old time songs, then introduced Mrs. Roy Hostetter, Mrs. Walter Smith. Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst and daughter. Sherry, who provided the program. Refreshments of punch and cookies were served to all present. This was a very informative day for our health and welfare and home missions departments of the church. Merit Scholarship for the 1979-80 academic year at Huntington College. Ihe scholarship is awarded to first-time freshman on a predicted grade-point average which is based on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAI), high school rank in class, English grades and overall high school grades. The monetary value ranges from S2OO to S7OO and is renewable for the remaining years at Huntington if the student maintains a cumulative grade point averate of 10.25. Dale is a graduate of John Glenn High School where he participated in baseball, tennis and basketball, tennis and basketball. He received the Most Valuable player award for both tennis and baseball. W.M.S. TO MEET The Walkerton Wesleyan W.M.S. monthly meeting will be held in the church social room at 9:30 a.m. on Mondav, Julv 9.
