Hamlet Church 75th Anniversary Celebration Plans for a 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Hamlet United Methodist Church, got underway Friday night when the Church Anniversary Committee met to complete plans for a Day Long Celebration of the event. The Church was dedicated on July 10. 1904. as the Methodist Episcopal Church, and built at a cost of $4,700. which was paid for by nightfall of Dedication day. The celebration will begin on Sunday. Fill the Pew contest. Pew captains are Mrs. Dianna Hancock, Miss Beverly Short. Mrs. Marge Good. Mrs. Marie Wicks. Mrs. Helen Cooley. Mrs. Leota Henry with Mrs. Alta Williams as chairman. Miss Beverly Short is in charge of beautification. In charge of the worship service arc the Rev. Phil and Tompsio Duccker and Wilford Ossler. At 12:00 noon a carry-in, picnic meal will be served. Those attending will furnish a covered dish and their own table service. The drinks, rolls, ham and ice cream will be furnished by the church organization. Mrs. Alta Williams and Mrs. Betty Mclntosh are in charge of the picnic arrangements.
At 2:00 p.m. the Dedication service will be held. Those in charge of the history of the church are James Hardesty, Mrs. Ellen Keller and Sam Childs. The public is invited to attend the days festivities.
