Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and family and Mrs. Everett Baker were Mother’s Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baker and family, in Bremen. Also Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jones, of Bremen, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Poulson, of Lake of the Woods, were guests. Mrs. A. P. Catelani and son, Craig, of Petaluma. California, are here visiting her mother. Mrs. Faye Jones and other relatives and friends in the Walkerton area, [hey were Friday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Solmos. Mrs. Lucille Hocker, North Liberty, and Mrs. Bertha Urbin were in Kewanna on Saturday evening to attend the annual Kewanna High School Alumni Banquet. There were 250 in attendance and both ladies enjoyed the evening very much meeting old classmates and friends that they seldom see. Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beagles and family were Mr. and Mrs. Marion Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles. Rev. and Mrs. Robert C. Bowman. of Koontz Lake, were hosts to the Rev. and Mrs. John Fink, of Donna. Texas. Neither had seen the other since 1971, whereas previously their pastorates were in southwest lowa. Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Mr. and Mrs. John Guttman were in West Lafayette on Sunday to attend the graduation exercises held at Purdue University in which their granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Guttman, graduated with distinction with a bachelor of science degree in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences. Charles Wayne, from the School ol Management, where he received a bachelor of science degree in industrial management. Miss Vickie Lynn Capek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Capek. Jr., received here bachelor of science degree from the School of Management, from Purdue University on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gordon, of Kixintz Lake, will serve as hosts for this coming Saturday evening’s carry-in dinner of the Koontz Lake Conservation Club, at the clubhouse. A cocktail party followed by a sit down dinner was held on Sunday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Powers on the shores of Koontz Lake honoring the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smillie, of Koontz Lake. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie, Mr. and Mrs. George Behnke. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Logan and Madeline Hilton. The honored couple received many beautiful and useful gifts and a delicious dinner and a very pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Moon, of South Bend, were here on Saturday to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mr. A. J. Kennedy. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murphy came home Friday night from a two week vacation in California where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Murphy, at Mountain Center. On the return trip they stopped in Keene, Texas, to visit Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sanders. Mrs. Florence Creagor Morris is a patient in the Osteopathic Hospital, South Bend. A surprise Mother's Day dinner w as given on Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Whitaker, Sunset Drive, honoring his mother, Mrs. Martha Taylor, of North Liberty. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Hal Brown, of Goshen; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Craft and son. of South Bend; Mrs. Brenda Maddux and son, of South Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Haskins, of South Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Craft and family; of Mishawaka; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Keifer and familv, of Plymouth; Mr. Cecil Worthington, of North Liberty and Luann Whitaker, of Walkerton. RECEIVE DEGREES Jhree Walkerton area residents were among 764 graduates at the May 9 commencement ceremonies ot Indiana University at South Bend in the South Bend Century Center. Degree recipients were Lynn E. Badgley, bachelor of science, elementary education; Martin J. Irwin, bachelor of arts, psychology and Dirk L. Pletcher, bachelor of science in chemistry, GRADUATES Todd Stull, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stull. North Liberty, graduated from Lincoln Tect., Indianapolis. on Friday, May 11. Todd is a 1978 graduate of North Liberty High School w here he was a member of the track and football teams. He is employed by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Birk, North Liberty. LIONETTES MEET AT KOONTZ LAKE Mrs. Chester Griffin served as hostess for the May meeting of the Koontz Lake Lionettes held at the Lions Park Building. Koontz Lake. I his being the twelfth birthdav of the club, our refreshments were in keeping of a birthday party. The officers for the coming year were installed. They are president. Mrs. Chester Griffin; vicepresident, Mrs. Ted Lipke; secretary. Mrs. Wilbur Mullet; treasurer. Mrs. Evar Peterson; one vear director. Mrs. Viola Bregi and two vear director. Mrs. L. M. Thornburg. The outgoing president is Mrs. L. M. Thornburg. I he hostess gift was won bv Mrs. Viola Bregi. A picnic is being planned for June with the Koontz Lake Lions as our guests.
