1 OBITUARIES ^•^x MARGARET BANDENDISTEL Mrs. Margaret M. Bandendistel, 91, of 4O” 7 Kentucky Street, Walkerton. died on Thursday, April 12, at 9:40 p.m. in the LaPorte Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on February 15. 1888. to Nicholas and Margaret Jeorge Amberger, in St. Mary’s, Indiana. On October 18. 1905, she married Charles R. Bandendistel. in Brookville. Indiana, w ho preceded her in death on February 10, 1974. She had lived here since 1914 coming from Elwood. Indiana. Surviving are four daughters. Edith B. Sicner, of Denver. Colorado. Mrs. Harry (Alice) Duffey, of Mishawaka, Mrs. George (Ruth) Reusch. of Walton, Kentucky, and Mrs. Marion (Mary) Sharpe, of Muncie: a son. Richard, of Fish Lake; 10 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and a sister. Mrs. Anna Kuntz, of Batesville. Indiana. One daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Patrick s Catholic Church, Walkerton, of which she was a member, with Rev. Anthony Letko, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. RAYMOND A. POWERS Raymond A. Powers, 79. of 110 N. Jefferson. North Liberty, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, after an extended illness. He was born on May 23. 1899, in Iron River. Michigan, and moved to the North Liberty area many years ago. His first wife. Mabel Ranstead. died in 1960. On November 19, 1977, he married Pauline Philion, in Walkerton, who survives along with five daughters. Mary Rexstrew, of South Bend, Rita Eby, of Walkerton, Ruth DePaepe, of Mishawaka, Beverly Bryan, of Plymouth, and Audrey Rice, of Lakeville; two sons, Raymond, Jr., of Elkhart, and Robert, of North Liberty; 13 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. He retired from Wells Aluminum Corp., North Liberty, in 1965. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Walkerton, and a member of the American Legion Post 365. He was a veteran of World War L Services were at 10:00 a m. on Saturday in St. Patrick’s Church. Walkerton, with Rev. Anthony Letko. pastor, officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. MRS. MARILYN E. JAHR Mrs. Marilyn E. Jahr, 44. of 403 Van Buren Street. Walkerton, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 8, 1934, in Walkerton and was a lifelong resident of the community. On May 8, 1978. in LaPorte, she married Robert B. Jahr, who survives. She was an employee of Plas-Steel, Inc., of Walkerton. Also surviving are two daughtters, Mrs. Debbie Holland and Mrs. Diane Schmeltz. both of Walkerton; three sons. Donald Hendricks, of Mishawaka. Steven Hendricks, of Napierville, Illinois, and James Hendricks, of Del (. ity. Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, her mother. Mrs. Sarah Tuttle, of Walkerton; five sisters. Mrs. Helen Winenger. of Mishawaka. Mrs. June Conrad, of Floral City. Florida. Mrs. Connie O'Brien, of Van Nuys, California, Mrs. Ruth Straker. of Walkerton, and Mrs. Rose Schmanski, of South Bend; and eight brothers. Howard. Jerry. mond, l orn Tuttle, of Grovertown, and Richard Tuttle, of Argos. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Walkerton United Methodist Church with Rev. Will iam E. Hughes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. Friends may call Wednesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Walkerton, and from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday and an hour before the services in the church. SHAMROCK GOLFERS SPLIT On April 10 the North Liberty golf team opened its season on a successful note as they scored a two stroke victory over Argos. The loss lowered Argos' record to 0-2. Mark Wilmcs led North Liberty with a 42 and Dan Stevens followed with a 43. On April 12. North Liberty evened its record against South Bend Washington. The Shamrocks lost a nine stroke decision on the Wishpering Pines course. Mark Wilmcs led North Liberty with a 42. Kevin Kowalski was medalist for Washington w ith a 39. North Liberty's golf team traveled to La Ville on April 16 for its first conference match of the season. Despite a 41 by Dan Stevens, the Shamrocks lost the match which was played at Tri-Way. North Liberty’s record is 1-2. LaVille raises its record to 3-1.
