Kindergarten Enrollment On Monday, April 30 There will be a meeting for parents and children eligible to enroll for Kindergarten during the 1979 80 school year April 30. Development screening will be done at this time necessitating dividing up into small groups according to the first letter of the family name as follows: If the child’s last name begins from A- 1 come from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. If the child's last name begins from J - R come from 10:00 a.m. • 12:00 noon. If the child's last name begins from S- Z plan to come from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Health examination and immunization forms, which parents should present to the physician at examination time, will be distributed during the pre-registration. These forms must be returned to the schtwl before September I. Proof of age with a legal birth certificate (one from the health department of the county in which the child was born) is required before Mark Lute Is Outstanding Senior At Purdue Mark Alan Lute, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Lute. Route 3, Reedsburg. Wisconsin, formerly of Walk erton, has been named the outstanding senior in the School of Agriculture at Purdue University. West Lafayette, by a committee of faculty and students. Lute is a 1975 graduate of Plymouth High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and class salutatorian and active in 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America functions. He served as state president of the Future Farmers of America in 1974-75, and received the Ameri-
Easter Egg Hunt Winners In Walkerton The annual Walkerton Volunteer Fire Department Easter Egg hunt was held with the following winning the prize eggs. Gold eggs paid $2.50; silver eggs, $2.00; red eggs. SI.OO and green eggs. 50 cents. In the one to five age group Joshua Shirk found the gold egg. Silver eggs were found by Jamie Schock and Daniel Chase. Red eggs were gathered in by Stephen Chase. Becky Molenhouser and Sandra Flynn. Green eggs were found by Amanda Vaugh. Ihomas Hiler and April Ameling. The six to nine year old egg winners were Jeri Caplinger found the gold egg while Greg Zellers and Todd Brems each found silver eggs. Red eggs were found by Pandy Corwin. Jeri Caplinger and Rick Sparks. Green eggs were gathered by Roger Harbaugh, JoAnn Anderson and Peggy Schulte. In the 10 to 12 year old group Jerry Corbett found the gold egg. Tom Heck and Deno Brogden each found silver eggs while Jerry Corbett and Rae Jimerson each found red eggs. Green eggs were gathered in by Deno Brogden, Keith Clark. Kris McGovern and Jeff Rizek. NOTICE The Oregon Township Senior Citizens Club will meet on Thursday. April 19, at the Koontz Lake Conservation club house at 12:30 p m C.S.T. All members are to bring a covered dish. can Farmer Degree, highest honor the FFA bestows on its members. He is a member ot Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi and Ceres honorary societies and was a member of the Purdue's 1978 Dairy Judging team. Earlier this spring he received the $250 W.A. Rafferty Livestock Leadership and Citizenship Award.

P-L-J SCHOOL BOARD NEWS The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Board met in regular session on Tuesday evening with some 30 interested patrons in attendance. A discussion between these patrons and the board on the proposed building projects, their cost, and the effect on the tax rates was held. Several different ideas were discussed bv those in attendance as the board asked for the opinions of these people. The board made no final decision on the building programs. but will have to make a definite decision by June 1 in order to meet the construction guidelines of beginning in May. 1980, and being completed during October of that year. The superintendent discussed with the board the legislation passed that had effects on the operation of the school system. He also announced that an application for a project numbmer to renovate the Urey Middle School, making changes to comply with the Handicap Act. and an addition for a study hall at the high school has been sent to the Division of Accreditation and School Facility Planning. The Superintendent was granted permission to particiapte in the Spring Planning Conference of the State Superintendents on May I and 2 in Indianapolis. Charles Mellon, athletic director, gave a financial report on the expenses and receipts for the 1978-79 school year. He stated that a strain has been placed on the athletic fund due to the increase cost in awards, purchasing of uniforms and other operable functions of the department. The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday. May 8. at 7:00 in the administration building. The board will not meet the first Tuesday of the month due to the superintendent being at the Spring Planning Conference at that time. The first Atlantic telegraph cable was opened in 1858.
J.G.H.S, Names Judy Hassett and Anita Ecker have been named co-valedictorians and Meredith Rundle as salutatorian of John Glenn High School's 1979 graduating class. John McNiel, principal, named the honored scholars on the basis of their first seven semesters work. Miss Hassett, daughter of Mrs. John Hassett and the late John Hassett. Rural Route 4, Walkerton, is a member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and the Walkerton United Methodist Church. She plans to go to Purdue University in August. 1979. and major in mathematics. Miss Ecker received the Gold Key Award at the Regional Scholastic Art Contest. Valedictorians And Salutatorian art in 4-H at the State Fair in 1978. She is secretary of the art club. A member of the concert and pep band, she is also a 4-year member of the area honor band. She is a member of the varsity tennis team, volleyball team, pep club and Sunshine Society. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ecker, Rural Route 4, Walkerton, she is a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren. Miss Ecker plans to enter Purdue University next fall and study science. BfcSS^ F Miss Rundle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milne Rundle. Rural Route 4. Walkerton. She is presently vice president of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Sunshine Society. She is also coeditor of the yearbook, Friendship, 1979. Talent Show To Be Given At I Walk. Elementary A talent show will be presented at the Walkerton Elementary School on Wednesday . April 25. at 1:30 p.m. Students have tried out and have been chosen bv their teachers of their grade level to perform in the program. Parents and interested persons of the community are invited to attend.
