That’s the theme for the second appearance of singer Bertha Norman in North Liberty. Sponsored by the North Liberty Ministerial Association, the concert of Miss Norman on Palm Sunday. April 8. in the North Liberty United Methodist Church is the culmination of a one-year effort. The response in 1978 to her Palm Sunday concert was so great that she was asked immediately to return a year later. Bertha Norman, of South Bend, Indiana, has been accepted as one of the most outstanding soloists in the field of gospel music today. Critics have described her as a musical miracle with a distinguished reputation of having the ability to sing in varied categories of music during the same concert. She has been classified as a mezzo soprano; however, without effort she sings selections from the exhilerating • classics to the deeply moving Negro spirituals. Despite her many years of intensive training and special tutoring, one easily discerns that her talent is a beautiful girt from God. During the past few years she has made music news as a spectacular recitalist, as well as appearing on radio and television, and being a CRAFT SUPPLIES AND GIFT SHOP * Beads * Rings • Cord • Jute • Macrame • Ceramics • Crewel • (.raft Books • Crochet Items • Macra-Poles • Bumps • Strung Art * Quilling • Hardware Sculpture STRINGS OF PEARL 325 Kooaevelt Road Walkerton 586-3428 Open I (M) 6 (M) p.m ( loscd Thursdays A Sundays 4tal9

recording artist. Her favorite work is in the area of Evangelism, and she has had the privilege of appearing in front of some of the largest audiences in the United States. Canada, and Great Britain. She has appeared as guest soloist for the Billy Graham Crusade on two occasions, the Cecil Todd Crusade’ in South Bend, and others. Bertha spends the greater part of her time engaged in community activities. At present she is a director of music at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church of South Bend. Much of her success can be I attributed to a dose relationship with M. Elizabeth Hesibcn, the same accompanist, traveling companion and dedicated friend for the past 19 years of an eventful career. Every performance, to Bertha, is a special tribute of praise to God in thanksgiving for His glorv in her life. The North Liberty Churches invite everyone in the North Liberty Walkerton area and surrounding communities to attend this Holy Week concert. The program will commence at 7:00 p.m. There will be a free will offering to defray the expenses of the concert. The Youth Fellowship of North Liberty United Methodist Church will serve as ushers.
