Kentucky, was an overnight guest on Saturday of Mrs. Alta Bowers. Her parents and Mrs. Bowers were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Richard Murphy. Also there for dinner were Mr and Mrs. Michael Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Murphy. of Louisville, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tesch, of Mishawaka. On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Alta Bowers. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hostetler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Bowers and family and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Swain, of Bloomington. were all guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bowers Mr and Mrs. Wayne Cover and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Cover and family, of Hobart, were Christmas day guests in the home of Mr and Mrs. John McGovern and family. Dan Roser New Clerk-Treasurer At North Liberty Dan Roser. 'l. of 110 South Lafayette Street. North Liberty, was sworn in by Mildred De Vos, Liberty Township Democratic chairman, on Wednesday evening, December 20, during a special Town Board meeting as the new Clerk I reasurer. Roser replaces ( arl I skridge. who served the low i) of North liberty for the past 28 years. Also sworn in was William Kammerer as a member of the board for Ward Five due to the resignation of Bob Zellers, who moved out of tow n. In other business. Al Heim, president of the board, announced that all town employees would be retained for the upcoming year. Also a 52.34 levy per Sl(X) assessed property value was approved by the state tax board which shows a reduction of 20 cents from the frozen tax rate of 1978. Roser has lived in North Liberty since 193 b and is a retired baker from the Ward Baking Company. South Bend. He served for 27 soars as the secretary-treasurer of the Indiana Joint Board of Retail and Wholesale Department Store Union. He is a past president of the North Liberty Lions Club and is presently serving as secretary of the dub He is a member of the First Christian Church. South Bend He is married and has a daughter. INITIATED INTO SOCIETY Susan Caryl Farrar. Walkerton, was initiated into Purdue University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, freshman scholastic honor society recently. Membership in Alpha Lambda

Delta is open to students in their first year of college who are enrolled in a baccalaureate-degree program and who received a 5.5 (of a possible 6) grade index during their first semester or a 5.5 index lor the first two semesters Sunshine Girls From O-D Help With Story Hour I he Christmas Storv Hour at the Kixmtz lake Library on Friday was turned into a party. I his magic was performed bv the Sunshine Girls of Oregon-Davis High Schixd Kathv Reed, the library storyteller, and president of the Sunshine Club, descended on the library with her helpers, Barbara Robinson. Kim Fifer. Denise Borrelli. Christine Allen. Bettv Rice. Wanda Thompson. Patti Niles. lina Thompson. Melissa Lyon and Beth Clark, and between them they managed to give 30 boys and girls a vers exciting afternoon. They set up a Christmas tree and decorated it, with some help from Kelly Lawrence, an early guest I hen the children, some parents and the helpers clustered around the storyteller who had a supple of gcxxf yuletide tales to relate. After the last tale was told the children were asked to suggest a favorite carol and everyone got into the act w ith these. Just as the last carol was finished the guest of honor appeared. Santa himself, and received a standing ovation! Each child had a visit with Santa and a treat, then they formed a line to the refreshment table. A drawing was held and prizes won bv a number of voting sters AH the expenses, including the C hristmas tree, were paid by the Sunshine C lub. The event was a graphic demonstration of what fine young people there are in the community . NOTICE The Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library will be open until noon on Saturday, December 30. Also at the library the new b<x>k of W^Guiness World Records and the 1979 World Almanac have been added to the shelves.
