Triton Uses Free Throws To Stop Falcons 75-71 The Triton Trojans used a lot ot tree throws to take a 75-71 victory over the John Glenn Falcons in the consolation game of the Culver Holiday Journey The loss found the Falcons slipping to a 1 -7 record with a lay-off now until January 5 tor the holidays. Ihe Trojans evened their mark at 4-4 with the win. Triton is a small team but starts all seniors and their speed and experience. along with their hard work, forced the stele of play the Falcons could not cope with as well. I he more physical game found a lot of free throw shooting. Glenn for example made 10 in the first quarter alone and in all the two teams shot bb and made 44 in this foul-marred game. Triton scored first, two free throws by Brent Morris who has really been drawing fouls all season with his aggressive. hard play . Bob Muncie lied the score with a lb footer but fed Carpenter came back with a similar shot for I riton as only about 45 seconds had elapsed Tom Moore followed a break of oxer a minute without a point, rare in this game, as he hit two free throws but Morns came back with a three point plax for the Irojans Muncie and ( raig Ochs lilt baik to-hack. but so did Morris and lim Ganshorn plus a free throw by Morns in two attempts to make it 12-8 Triton. lorn Moore hit another pair of one pointers, but ( lint Bcssinger pegged in a medium length base line jumper Rob Moore got his first two points of the night, a couple of free throws, and then followed with a 13 footer knotting the score at 14 with I 10 left in the period. IN3. Walkerton. Ind., recently par ticipated in exercise "Varsity l ance" off the Southern C alifornia coast. He is a crewmember aboard the destroyer I SS Elliot, homeported in San Diego. Ihe 12 dav exercise involved more than 20.(XX) personnel. 38 ships and 250 aircraft from U.S Navv and Manne Corps squadrons. Varsitv Lance' began with advance in-port training bv all unites and continued with an at-sea warm-up period. Ihe assembled fories conducted sea control operations in preparation for amphibious landings at ( amp Pendleton. ( alif I he exercise then continued ashore at ( amp Pendleton for Marine ( orps forces, while naval surface and air units conductes anti submarine and anti-air warfare training at sea. Ihe exercise ended with an amphibious backload from ( amp Pendleton and return transit to the San Diego area Sullivan joined the Navv in January 19-5.
