The Taylor University Chorale will present a concert of sacred music Sunday, December 3 at 9:30 a m. at the Walkerton Presbyterian Church, 512 Georgia Street. At this concert the Chorale will present a program of sacred classics, including “The Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten, “The Chichester Psalms" by Leonard Bernstein, and “The Many Moods of Christmas" arranged by Bennett. Selections will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The popular 47-voice group has traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. The Chorale, carefully selected by auditions, is particularly noted for its sensitive and dynamic renditions of the sacred classics, its varied repertoire. maturity of sound, and excellent blend. Chorale dirctor is Philip K. Kroeker, Professor of Music and ('hairman of the Music Department. He received the B.M. and M.M. degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, and the Ph D. degree from Indiana University. He has sung with the Westminster Symphonic Choir under the direction of J. F. Williamson. Leonard Bernstein, Sir John Barbirolli, Bruno Walter, and Herbert van Karajan. In addition to his duties at Taylor University, Dr. Kroeker is organist of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Taylor is a 131-year-old accredited. Christian liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1490 students. The public is invited to the concert. O.E.S. NEWS Ihe W alkerton Chapter 319, Order of the Eastern Star, had a busy and interesting meeting luesday evening, November 21. Worthy Matron Judy Hillman and Worthy Patron Alfred Drews presided in the east. Mrs Hillman greeted all with a poem “Giving I hanks *. Patricia Reidenbach of Nappanee, deputy of District 20 *as escorted to the east greeted by the worthy matron and seated on 'he dais. Mrs. Becky Reed, of Walkerton. District 20 chairman of Star-Lite magazine, was escorted to ’he north west, Mrs Kenneth Klinedinst accopipanied by organ •st Verice Walz, sang “I Believe". Mr. Paul Winland, of Crown Point, escorted his stepdaughter to the east where she was greeted by *udy and thanked her for the chapter for her service to her chapter. She was presented with a gift from the chapter Other dignitaries introduced were Delores Housewerth, South Bend. District -0 Membership Study Commission -‘Ppointment; Nell Dunklin, Brenien, Grand Representative to Utah 111 Indiana and Ethel Walters, of Nappanee, an honorary member of Walkerton chapter and wife of the *‘*tc Ray E. Walters, Past Grand Intron of the Indiana Grand Chap,er Mr. Dunkin and Mrs. House-
werth were introduced as were out of town members present. Florence Erickson was installed and given her obligation by Mrs. Hillman to the station of Associate Matron for the remainder of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Don King of 409 Harrison St., were received into membership through affiliation horn the Geneva, Illinois chapter. They were given a bouquet of frost flowers as they signed the membership book. The chapter voted to serve the Past Masters annual dinner, Saturday, December 2, at the temple. It was decided to continue with the Christmas Family party with the children and Santa Claus special guests. The date will be announced soon. Mrs. John McCombs, chairman of the Proficiency test given each year, was escorted to the east and invited Mr. and Mrs. Carl Neindorf. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Button and Donna Tennison to the east where she presented each with a certificate of perfection. They had been tutored this summer by Mrs. McCombs and her committee and their passing was an honor to their chapter, a 100% passing. Mrs. Reed spoke of the interest she had enjoyed in serving her chapter. She introduced her parents and their guest. Phyllis Noonan. of Crown Point, and thanked her chapter for the honor given her, for her gift and the soloist for the song. Mrs. Riedenbach spoke of her pride in Walkerton chapter and thanked the chapter for her invita tion. Theresa Ik-Vos contributed to the birthday bank. Protems were Mr and Mrs. Myron Mullet, Mary Bauer and Retta Williams. Following the closing Mrs Carl Neindorf presented a narrative using as her topic. "Gossip is Gtxxl" In her pleasing and matchless manner, Mrs. Neindorf explained the word Gossip derived from the words, Godzyb. meaning a male person and Godzybbe, meaning female; relating to our well known term, God Parent, attendant at a christening of babies or the passing on of information, not bad but good was explained. Newspapers, books, biographys. etc., are allforms of well meaning gossip Ihe Laster Star magazine. The Star Lite, is published for all chapters in Indiana, keeping members informed as to what other chapters are doing throughout the state, thus conveying to us through Gossip a sincere and valuable serv ice. Guikies and coffee were served during the social hour Guests came from South Bend.
