Mr. ami Mrs. (Jeorge Michalski, of Baton Rouge. La., have been at Koontz Lake for a week visiting his mother. Mrs. William Michalski. Mrs. D'Maris Metzger, of Columbia City, was a Sunday ami Monday visitor with Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mrs. Lave .lones came home Saturday night after a ten day visit with her son, Paul, and family, in Montpelier. Vermont. Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Hostetter and family, of Indianapolis, were here Sunday to spend the day visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hostetter. Mrs. Crystal Lawrence, of Koontz lake, was in Munster Sunday along with six other ladies who she had formerly worked with to attend a program given by the Calumet Corner Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. Iwo of the ladies in the choral group were former friends, their friendship created bv working together many years. The entire group of acquaintenances had dinner together and old times were enjoyed. Mr and Mrs. Herman Henry returned last Saturday after a two week vacation in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Henry, of Koontz Lake, accompanied them Mr. and Mrs. Henry purchased a home at la vares, Florida, and in the coming years they expect to spend their winters in the sunny south. Mrs. Ethel Fields, of Koontz Lake, and her son. Clarence, of Cedar Lake, were in Watseka, Illinois. Wednesday for the funeral of Mrs. Edward Torbet. who was a sister of Mrs. ( larence Fields. Mr. ami Mrs. Harold Rensberger. Mr. ami Mrs. Harold Kolman. of Westchester. Illinois, were overnight guests last week of Rcy. and Mrs. R. C. Boyy man. Mr. and Mrs. John Markle, North liberty, ami Mr. and Mrs. (>reg Howell and sons, of South Bend, were Sunday guests of Ms Pat Markle, North liberty Ihe day was spent with a 1 hanksgiying dinner and celebrating the birthday of Mr. Markle. Miss Janet Ryan is home tor the Thanksgiving holiday break from Indiana University, Bloomington. Miss Julie Ryan w ill arrive on Wednesday for the holiday. Mrs. George Poole, of Martinsville, spent three days here this week visiting her great-grand-daughter ami husband. Craig and I ibby De My er. Mrs. ( Ivde Chapman and her sister, Mrs. Beulah Fetterhoff. of Winona Lake, spent ten days with Rey and Mrs. Dean Fetterhoff. at Marietta, Georgia. While there they visited many interesting places in Atlanta and Stone Mountain. Also the Indian Mounds at Cartersyille, Georgia. On their wav home they visited an aunt and cousins in Chattanooga. Tennessee. Miss (indy Bronder. of Des Plames, Illinois, was a recent house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein and Donna for five days. Donna met ( indy w hile on the tour of American Institute for Foreign Study students. Sunday afternoon guests of the Klopfensteins were Mashelle Pavey, Paul Hershberger ami Debbie Wolff, who were also students with the program. Cindy enjoyed the Junior Miss Pageant of

which Debbie was runner-up and hopes to visit this area again. While there she saw him play in the first basketball game of the season at the college. Mrs. John Northam came back last week end after a yveek s visit with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Roberts, in Bellowood, Illinois. Mrs. ( harles Martin returned Sunday from a two week visit with her daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rhodes, in Louisville, Lexas. Women Tour Marshall-Starke Center Friday Ihe Woman's Community Club of Walkerton visited the MarshallStarke Development (enter. Inc., in Plymouth, on Friday, November 17. Informative tours were conducted by Margaret Schaller, speech therapist and Julie Starasnick, director of services. Ihe 38 members attending learned that the center, in operation since 1965, had first opened in a motel room but is now housed in an attractive white building servicing 90 clients with a staff of 30. A teacher also works with 10 students and parents in their homes. Programs are offered from preschool through adult for anyone with a mental, physical or emotional handicap. » Os particular interest was a completely equipped apartment built within the center to teach the adults the basic skills of being able to lice independently so that in the near future a group may be able to liye m an apartment, with some
