The newleyweds arents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gardner, Walkerton, and Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Hostetler. Middlebury Officiating at the ceremony was Rev. Kerri Gardner, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Carter and Cindy Gardner, sister-in-law of the bride. The honor attendant's gown was of yellow satin featuring a fitted bodice with an overly of lace. Bridesmaids gowns were made similar to the honor attendant only in mint green and peach satin. Colonial hats in matching colors completed their attire. Thev carried long stem roses. Flower girl
was Kristen Hostetler, niece of the groom and she wore a peach satin and lace dress and wore a colonial hat. She carried a basket of peach rose petals. Serving his brother as best man was Ron Hostetler. Groomsmen were Phil Miller and Steve Benin, Bremen. They wore brown suits and pastel shirts to match the colors of the bridesmaids gowns. Ring bearer was Greg Smith, cousin of the bride and he was in a brown suit and peach pastel shirt. Candlelighter was Jimmy Hess, nephew of the groom. Ushers were Kevin Gardner, brother of the bride, and David Hess, brother-in-law of the groom. They wore brow n suits and ivory shirts. Mrs. William Carter was the organist and Mrs. Alvin Boise, pianist, providing the wedding music. Cindy Gardner sang, "The Greatest Is Love.” theme of the wedding. Kevin Gardner joined his wife in singing. "My Tribute.” Miss Nancy Heiser. Culver, assisted at the guest book. Greeters were Misses Paula Berton and Ingrid Boise. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the church social room. Hostesses were four aunts of the bride. Winitied Smith. Judv Hopper, Twilla Gregg and Dorothy Fads. Diane Hess and Gail Hostetler, sister and sister in law of the gnxim, assisted at the gift table. I hi rehearsal dinner was held at the Pb mouth Holiday Inn and was hosted by the groom's parents. Ihe Church social room, decorated in a garden theme, was the scene of a shower given bv Laura Carter, Eva Holderread, Beth Carter and Kerri Gardner, in August. Junior Miss program. Junior Miss, outgrowth of a community floral celebration in Mobile. Alabana, observes ns 22nd anniversary dur ing the 19 7 8 7 9 year. The program was launched by the Mobile Jaycees in 195 h. prompted h\ the success of the Mobile Trail Festival and the desire to spotlight the constructive achievements of young people. Junior Miss objectives are to recognize, reward and encourage excellence in youth and to provide a means by which young people can communicate their opinions and ambitions. Os equal importance is the opportunity Junior Miss gives to high school senior girls for a college education. The overall awards list scholarships, cash, bonds and other awards presented to Junior Miss contestants at the national, state and local lev els exceeds $1 million. In its two decades, Junior Miss has achieved a significant position among the country’s youth programs, attracting thousands of high school girls to competition at the local levels each year. The Walkerton competition reaches out to four schixils, John Glenn. North Liberty, LaVille and Oregon-Davis,
which covers over six different communities. Its success is based on its objectives. the high standards, uniform judging and the dedication of some 30,000 volunteers throughout the nation. Ihe Walkerton Area Junior Miss sponsor, the Walkerton Jaycees, is typical of the civic, business, educational and social organizations which make Junior Miss click. The program itself is geared for and about youth, to salute and assist the girls who take part by giving them the chance to express themselves and to expand their talents and personalities.
