Airlines Mainaincnce crew strike. A plane had to be flow n in from 1 as \cgas. We finally left about midnight and arrived in Frankfort. West Germane about noon the next dav. With our live busses waiting, it was only a short while to sort the luggage and load. Our bus was number 2 and our driver was Al phonsc. a real pro so no one had am doubts about tin mountain dnvnig and in the cities also. Our first few davs were in Nui
enburg. with a bus tour of the citv. I suallv on city tours a special citv tour guide is hired so that we get a real good tour. Some time was free, without scheduled side trips, to us. so we took a train trip on our own to the Goebel Hummel Factory and Hummel Display , in ( oburg. West Germanv. (oburg is only about 10 miles from Fast Germanv. Io tour the lactorv vou have to be a । member of the Goebel Hummel Club. I ach member can take one I guest and members get a free lunch but there is a charge for vour । guest, len of us had a verv memorable dav. I he band had scheduled evening dances in Gun/en Hausen, sister I city of Frankenmuth. Michigan. Gerogensgmund ami Rosstal. At these dances we were seated with I the German people. I his is really an experience that most people would never see. We saw more hand talking than any thing else as probably 90 percent or more of the people could not speak German and about the same amount of Germans could not speak English, however, .i verv happv time was had by all. Mter all music is international, as well as the polkas and waltzes. We met some wonderful people, so now we have correspondence to keep up. In Gunzenhausen wc met the mavor. Mr. Hilpert. also Hans Billman, promotor, both friends of past trips taken. Wc moved on to Rothenberg, the citv of medieval times with the wall completely around this citv .it this date lots of buildings are over >(M) years old. \ nice place to spend a few dav s. Moving on to Munich, capital of Bavaria, wc spent the first night here in the lowenbrau Keller, dancing and drinking good beer. Also while in Munich wc toured the citv on foot to Hofbrau Haus, Frauen Kirche. Farm Market. Mar ien Platz with Glockenspiel. Farm Fair and of course the Oktoberfest. With all things and shoppers Munich was verv crowded. It is one of the finest large cities anv where and worth a visit. From Munich we moved into Austria with Secfield our stop. Seetivld is 4.(MM) feet above sea level, very verv beautiful and a must to see. Ihe mountains are verv beautiful as are the buildings, etc. Hotels are small, verv nice w ith excellent food From Seefeld wc took another train ride, this time to Innsbruck, also a beautiful city and well worth the visit. Wc also took a bus trip to Linderhof ( astlc. Obcramagan and Garm isch Partinkin hen, in southern Germanv. leaving tins beautiful spot wc traveled bv bus to Villars, Switzerland with short stops in 1 itchenstcin, 1 uropc’s smallest country, and Zurich. Switzcrland. Wc found Villars to be about 6,000 feet high, quite cool, with snow higher up. Hie hotel was fine and well as the fixid. but verv high priced. Villars is near the French border and predominately French Our tours from here took us up and down the Rhine Valiev, with all the vineyards, into France and through a 12 mile tunnel into Italy 's Aosta Valiev and back to Villars. Ihe next dav a verv beautiful trip was made to Zermatt and the great Matterhorn Mountain. I caving Villars we bussed all dav to Pans We saw the Eifel lower. Arch of Triumph, Notre Dame and Main Streets are verv nice. We walked down Pigalle and this wasn't so nice. We had reserved seats for the famous and fabulous ’ Moulin Rouge." Our seats were right in front of the stage so vou can bet wc didn't miss a thing. A wonderful show and real expensive but well worth it Fritz Weber, our friend since whom wc met in Gerogensgumnd. drove down to Paris from Brussels, Belgium to spend an evening and a dav with us Wc were indeed happv to see lum. His job at NA 10 took him from us alter one dav s visit. Ihe band hail a farewell party tor us at the hotel on Monday night, and I uesdav we caught our plane, a D( K |et. back to Detroit with a
