Jr NOTICE TO BIDDERS FOR SCHOOL BUS ■ The Board of School Trustees of the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation, Marshall-LaPorte-St. Joseph Counties, Indiana, will receive bids at the administration office, 506 Rooosevelt Road, Walkerton, Indiana, until 7:30 P.M. on October 3, 1978, for two (2) 66 passenger school bus bodies and two chassis to fit such bodies. Submit bid prices based on delivery after January 5, 1979, but before February 5, 1979, and payment made fifteen days after delivery. Include as an alternate bid the following items: Whelan strobe light model 1200. radio, tow hooks front and rear, mudflaps on the rear tires, 2,000 watt in-line block heater, vacuum stop arm, automatic heavy duty four speed transmission. and a heavy duty V-8 engine with a 360 cubic inch engine. Bids will be accepted for bodies and chassis separately or as a combined unit. All bidders must be willing to combine chassis and , body bids accepted by the Board of School Trustees. Arrangements for all such combinations are the responsibilities of the bidders involved in all cases. Ail bodies and chassis bids must meet the minimum specifications of the Indiana School Bus Committee effective May 1. 1978. However, the following must be considered: 1). No engine may be bid which is 6 cylinder even though it meets net horsepower requirements and RPM listings. A heavy duty V-8 engine with a minimum 350 cubic inch engine is preferred. Failure to meet any minimum requirements must be itemized and accounted for as part of the bid. Failure to do so will be considered a breach of contract. Bids will be submitted on State Board of Accounts Form No. 95, all parts of which will be attached and properly filled out. Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable cerfitied check or bank officer's check made payable to the order of the Treasurer of the School Corporation or acceptable bidder's bond in favor of said Treasurer for an amount of not less that 5% of the amount of the proposal, which check or bond shall be forfeited as liquidated damages in case of failure of any successful bidder to enter into contract within ten days after notification of the acceptance of his proposal. Bids will be accepted on the date and time specified and bids will be taken under consideration, with the successful bidder to be notified that night or at a later date. The Board of School Trustees of the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation reserves the right to reject any and or all bids and accept anv bid at their discretion. Ihe program will begin at 7:00 p.m. NAOMI FELLOWSHIP MEETS The Naomi Fellowship of the United Methodist Church of Walkerton. met at the home of Mrs. Esther Kaufman with 11 members and one guest, Edith Baumgartner, of Milford, present. Ihe meeting was opened with prayer by Mary Bauer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A card was signed to send Margaret Cecrle, who is in the hospital. It was decided who would make pies and help at the Brooker sale. Future dates mentioned were the United Methodist Women’s meeting on September 21; Rally Day, September 24; Missionary speaker at the church on the evening of September 25; and the Father-Son Bauquet on September 28. The District meeting will be at the Grace Church, South Bend, on October 3. Election of officers was held with the following elected: chairperson, Mary Bauer; vice-chairperson, Pauline Knowlton; secretarv-treas-urer. Ethel Bierly; membership. Esther Kaufman; and Christian personhood. Alta Bowers. Devotions were given bv Mrs. Bowers. She read "Guiding Positive Thinking," by John L. Shuler. Think positive and you get positive, think negative and you get negative. Christ is our peace of mind in thinking. The lesson was given bv Alma Daube. She read, "Everyone Looking For It." from the June issue of Guidepost. It was a story of a hoy who was a stutter and couldn't get a job because of his speech detect. He finally found he could sing and became successful with it. Lhe next meeting will be with Marv Bauer.
1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup dark seedless raisins 2 cups w hole bran cereal 1 cup skim milk In large mixing bowl, cream together corn oil margarine and brown sugar Beat in egg white Sift flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda together Mix in raisins and bran cereal Stir alternately with milk into creamed mixture just until dry ingredients are moistened Divide mixture evenly among 12 greased muffin pans. 2 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches Bake at 400 F. about 20 minutes, or until done Makes 1 2 muffins
