Mrs. Evelyn Lawrence has returned to her home after spending ten days in the Smoky Mountains, the guest of the Rev, David and Betty Cathcart, of Burnsville, North Carolina. The Rev. Cathcart is a retired Methodist minister from Florida. Dr. and Mrs. G. R. Hershberger and family accompanied Karl to Hanover College. Hanover. Indiana. where he is enrolled as a freshman. Li/ Krick is now back at schtxil and her address is 424 N. Calvert. Muncie. Indiana 4'306. Tanya Balsley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Balsley. North Liberty, will begin her freshman year at Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music this week. On Saturday evening, September 2, the birthday of Mrs. Alta Bowers and the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H. Mantick were celebrated at the Herbert Mantick home at 3005 S. Monroe, LaPorte, with the following guests present, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bowers. Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Bowers and Mandy and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hostetler and family, all of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lee County, of Nappanee; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tesch, of Mishawaka; and Wilbur Andrews, of Bancroft, Michigan. and Tim and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Randolph and family, of Goshen, were week end campers at Potato Creek. Mrs. Ruth Eastlund, of Nappanee, spent Monday afternoon and evening here visiting with Mrs. Ada Miller. Miss Carla Baker is a medical patient in the LaPorte Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weller and son. Roland, of Rock Falls. lowa, spent the week end here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Awald and other relatives. Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Krick, of Hamlet. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker were called to Finley, Ohio, last Thursday, due to the death of her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Anderson returned on Saturday from a two week stay at Elk Rapids, Michigan. While there Christopher and Carol Anderson, Joni Germain and Mrs. Lucile Ward spent a couple of days with them. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Agnew Ludwig were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Williams and Roger, of Lipper Sandusky, Michigan. Monday the group attended the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. William DePoy, Koontz Lake, were in Bourbon on Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Jake DePoy. Mrs. Dora Warner, of Eustus, Florida, and Mrs. Maude Evans, of Big Fish Lake, Michigan, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William
DePoy a couple of days last week. Thursday Mrs. DePoy attended a past deputy meeting of the Rebekah Lodge at Long Lake, Michigan. Mrs. Ralph Bewley, of Englewood, Florida, has been in the Walkerton area visiting friends and relatives and spent two days last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Guttman. Members of the Trade Wind Chapter of O.E.S. of Chicago were here last Wednesday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newell with dinner at the Hayloft, in Plymouth. Sunday evening a birthday dinner was given by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bierly in their home honoring their grandson Gary Bierly. Other guests were Gary's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bierly and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Balmer and two sons of Elkhart. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly joined the group for homemade ice cream and cake. Mr. and Mrs. John Kynon, of Chicago, were Friday and Friday night visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newell, of Koontz Lake. These were former neighbors when the Newells lived in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. John Guttman and Mrs. Bertha Urbin were Sunday visitors of Dr. and Mrs. John B. Guttman in W'akarusa. Other guests were John Robert Guttman, home from Minneapolis, and Mr. Mark Parkins, of New Jersey. Miss Kazuko Kajinoto, of Osaka. Japan, came last Wednesday for an indefinate time to visit her sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bierly. On Friday evening they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Moon were Monday visitors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kennedy. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Mrs. Nove Bordner. Mr. and Mrs. Warner Clark were on a sightseeing trip through Michigan over the Labor Day week end. Mr. and Mrs. John Kiracofe and family, of Fort Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mercer and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery were among the campers at Potato Creek for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert will serve as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gross and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Arnold, of Silver Springs, Maryland, were here over Labor Day as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert. of Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hover, of Maumee, Ohio, were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bowles. Koontz Lake, over the Labor Day holidays. On Sunday the Hovers, the Bowles family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moles and family, from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Mrs. Crystal Lawrence were guests of Mrs. John Schamer. On Monday the group were entertained in the home of Mrs. Crystal Lawrence. Miss Dorothea Brenner entertained at dinner one evening last week for the follow ing guests: Mrs. Retta Williams. Mrs. Ellen Brede. Mrs. John Schamer. Mrs. Crystal Lawrence, Mrs. Bess Ferverda and Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mr. Russell Lawrence and Mrs. Grace Atwood were both surgical patients in St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend last week. A 25th wedding anniversary was given Sunday honoring Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rensberger in their home in Roann. It was given by their children and their families, beginning with a plate lunch for everyone with a wedding cake, replica of the original wedding cake. Many lovely gifts were received and opened for everyone to
see. The party was partially given in the yard in the shade of a large tree. Guests came from Lakeville, Bremen. Mishawaka, South Bend, LaPorte. New Carlisle, North Liberty, Walkerton. Syracuse, North Manchester, Akron, and some form Ohio. There were 50 or more guests present. A telephone call was received by the honored couple from their brother. Dale, in Texas. A most enjoyable day was had by the entire group. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber had a back-to-school dinner on Sunday for Charley and Robert. Those attending were Mrs. R. N. LaFeber, Miss Vicki Wallace and Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Gerhart. Miss Julie Ryan was home over the long week end from Lexington. Kentucky, where she is enrolled as a freshman at the University of Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dipert and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Holland attended the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Dipert, Plymouth, on Sunday. August 27. Week end guests of Noricen Peterson were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fisher, from Sumana Resorts. Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Murell. of LaPorte; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Young. Jr., of Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Young and family, of Sidney, Ohio. They ended the week end with a cook out at Mr. and Mrs. Andy Petersons. Mr. and Mrs. Harry' Lincoln, of Boca Raton, Florida, visited Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gryb last week. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kuklinski have returned from a week vacationing in Michigan. They attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Miss Kelly Bersluis, in Allendale, Michigan. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hostetter for the day.
