a cook out. They are all friends and had met on a ski trip last spring. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber and Robert and Miss Vicki Wallace were in Sandusky. Ohio, on Sunday to attend a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gerber. Craig Houser spent a few days at home after attending an all summer session at Indiana State University. He is enrolled there as a senior for the fall term. Charley Gerber attended a Methodist retreat for Ball State students at Epworth Forest on Friday to Sunday. August 25-27. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zimmerle and Lisa and Lorie, of North Liberty, returned home Friday evening from a week's vacation to Colorado where they visited Estes Park. Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge and many other interesteing places. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman were very pleasantly surprised Monday evening when their first neighbors of 44 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Strope and their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Whitty Miller. North Vernon, came to call on them and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strope where they are visiting. Mr. Gene Gerber was called to Sandusky, Ohio, on Tuesday, August 22. due to the death of his step-father. Mr. Stephen Beach. On Friday. Mrs. Gerber. Robert and Charles, went to Ohio to attend the funeral. Dr. Robert Ross. Koontz Lake, is a patient in the intensive care unit m the South Bend Osteopathic Hospital. Miss Elizabeth and Helen Schlosser. Fed Haven. Florida, are here visiting with Mrs. Bess Ferverda for ten days. They were neighbors in Florida. Saturday dinner guests of Mr. md Mrs. William Dickson were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gauthier and Mr. and Mrs Lester Jones, of Hammond. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bucklev. East Chicago, and Mrs. Ellen Bredc. Mrs. Faye Jones returned home Monday after a week visiting with her sister. Mrs. Hazel Foulks. and other relatives in Fort Wavne. Mrs. James R. Gray. Koontz l ake, entertained seven ladies on Monday afternoon at one o’clock with a delicious dessert and coffee. Ihe afternoon was spent playing bridge with prizes awarded. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lowry and son and Mr. and Mrs. John Wolff and family spent the week end in Pawnee. Illinois as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ross and son. Saturday Mrs. Fritz Skinner. Mrs. Herald Hostetler and Mrs. Lloyd Smith were dinner guests of Mrs. Ethel Palmiter, in South Bend. Last Saturday, starting at three o'clock, a surprise birthday party was held for Bill Ross Jr., by his wife Sandy with the following relatives attending: his mother. Mrs. Elsie Ross, of Mesa, Arizona; aunt and uncle led and Edna Lipke; cousins Howard Lipke and family, of Quincy. Illinois; Dennis Lipke and his anunt, Mrs. Vi Bregi. Also about 50 of his friends attended. A delicious meal was served and a quarter of beef, pit roasted by Mr. Bill Ellinger. was enjoyed. In the evening Bill Anderson took a group for a ride on his pontoon. It was truly a wonderful party. HOLD STICKLER REUNION The 48th Stickler family reunion was held on Sunday. August 27, at Storyland Zoo park. South Bend, with nearly 60 persons in attendance. Ihe same officers were retained for another year. Lloyd Barden. Fort Wayne, as president; Sylvia Holland, Walkerton, vice president; and Marilyn Reed. Knox, secretary-treasurer. Plans were discussed for a special program and meeting place for the 50th reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dipert volunteered to host the reunion then. The oldest member present was Henry Rough, rural Walkerton, age 85; and the youngest was Lisa Byrer. daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jim Bvrer. Bremen, two months old. I hose attending came from Walkerton. Bremen. South Bend, Knox, Goshen and Fort Wavne Mr. and Mrs. Francis Holland left carls to attend the 60th wedding anniversary of their aunt and uncle. imately 100 relatives, neighbors and friends arrived to surprise Harold Knowlton tor his 6(hh birth day. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kattau and family, of Patchogue. New York, and Mr and Mrs. Carl Delaney and family, of West Lafayette. A buffet supper of sandwiches, potato chips, salads, cake and ice cream was served. The group was entertained by Mrs. Marjorie Neidlinger. Mrs. Gene Morris and son. Dennis, of Plymouth, and Mrs. William Harrell, of Argos. A social evening was enjoyed wishing Harold many happy returns of the day. HOLD REUNION The 55th annual James H. Bradley reunion was held on August 20 at the home of J. Russell and Emma Bradlev. There were 37 members present to enjoy a very delicious carry in dinner. The afternoon was spent with games played and prizes won by the younger generation. The game committee that held the interest of the children, were Jan Bradley and Jcnenc Euler. The older generation had a short business meeting where James H Bradley Jr. was elected as president; Loren (Joe) Moore as vicepresident, and Joyce Bradley as secretary-treasurer for the coming year. Following the meeting a white elephant bingo was enjoyed. Gifts were presented to Peter Sullivan for being the youngest member present and to J. Russell Bradley as the oldest member present. Ice cream was served the latter part of the afternoon. Next year the reunion will be held on August Id at the home of Merlyn and Barbara Shattuck, of Kalamazoo. Michigan. Ihe oldest woman was Mamie Sanders, of Algier. Ohio. The youngest child present was Christina Rose Miller, of LaPorte. Those traveling the longest distance were Mr and Mrs. Harry Newland, of Clearwater, Florida. The newleyweds were Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, of LaPorte. The families present with the most children there were Mr. and Mrs. Carney Butler and Mrs. and Mrs. Stewart Werner, both with four children apiece. Ihe penny guessing game was won by Sherry Butler and the 50-50 game was won by Mona Werner Mr. and Mrs. Damon Newland were unanimously voted in charge of the reunion for next year which will be held the third Sunday in August.
