Cook Out And Birthday Party Are Highlights June was a busy, pleasant and enjoyable month for those residents of Miller's Merry Manor, Inc. who cared to participate. Two of the biggest events were the annual family cook-out on the patio on Wednesday. June 14, and the 100th birthday celebration of Lou Laramore on Friday. June 23. At the picnic, hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream were the treats. Entertainment was furnished by clowns and games. On the 23rd, Lou's old friends and neighbors came to pay their respects on this unusual occasion. The entertainment for this occasion was furnished by Mrs. Atwood and two of her pupils. Charles and Edward . Beaman, of Hamlet, grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Rank, of Hamlet. Each Monday evening a pastor from a local church comes with a group of his parishoners to lead us in weekly devotions for the service. For this service we wish to thank Rev. Hughes of the W'alkerton United Methodist Church. Rev. Moreilion of the Wesleyan Church and Rev. Shelley, of the First Baptist Church of Walkerton; who were out pastors for the month of June. Each Friday afternoon our Bible Study class is taught by Mrs. Helen Wentz of North Liberty and is attended by from 15 to 16 members each week. Her leadership is such an inspiration to all of us. The first Friday of each month, Father Letko of Saint Patrick’s Church offers communion to those Catholic residents who wish to accept it. Each Wednesday is bowling day. Our 6 top scorers played opposite the top scorers on the Senior Citizens of Koontz Lake team on June 21 and we came out on top. We had some elated members you can be sure. Now we can look forward to the July activities, the important one being the monthly birthday party on July 23 at which time the following residents will be honored: Betty Mathis, Gertrude Sheneman, Arthur Peek, Lona McCarty and Marie Biehl. The entertainment will be rendered by the Harmonica players at 2 p.m. To Worship At Potato Creek Sunday Morning A group of people representing North Liberty United Methodist Church will lead campers and visitors in a worship service at Potato Creek State Recreational Area on Sunday morning, July 16 at 8:30. The early morning service in the rustic setting of the park, at picnic site 4, will feature a "CountryWestern Sing-A-Long” of gospel music.
