Mr. Robert Reeder was a house guest of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beaty, over the holiday enroute from Boston to his home at Lake Tahoe. He also enjoyed visiting with other relatives and friends on the Fourth of July. Bob has been in Boston since January helping formulate plans for a Vocational Technical High School similar to the one he started in Lowell. Massachusetts, a few years ago. Bob is a graduate of Walkerton High School and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reeder. A 20th anniversary party for Mr. and Mrs. James Clark was given on Sunday. June 25. by their three children. Kim, Scott and Beth. Nearly 100 friends and relatives stopped in to congratulate them and share the cake and punch. A cook out was enjoyed on the Fourth of July at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry with the following guests present, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Crick, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Ossler and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Bennett and Miss Vickie Bennet, all of Hamlet; Mr. and Mrs. Donn Kelver and family, of LaPorte; Mrs. Russell Brown and Kevin. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Henry and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Berg and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Smith and family, of Crestwood, Illinois, came Saturday to spend the week end with Mrs. Helen Smith, of Koontz Lake. This was a surprise to Mrs.

Smith, a very happy one. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Campbell, of Sun City. Arizona, were here for a two week visit with her sisters. Miss Catherine and Jane Keefe. Miss Kris Bussie, of LaCrosse. Wisconsin, is spending three days here this week with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hunt, before leaving for her new work in Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Doubek, of Indianapolis, stopped here on the Fourth of July for a short visit enroute to Denver, Colorado, with Catherine and Jane Keefe. Mr. and Mrs. Herald Hostetler and Mrs. Fritz Skinner took their guest. Mrs. Blanche Rensberger, to O'Hara Field Monday where she caught her plane for Santa Anna, California. After several hours spent watching traffic and planes at O'Hara, they went to Hanover. Illinois, to visit their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Pat McNorton and daughters. Miss Brenda Lee and Angela McNorton came back with them for a week. Before leaving Chicago they went to see the big Woolworth Store on the outer edge of Chicago where Mr. McNorton is manager. Mrs. J. C. Milner spent Saturday in Mishawaka visiting Mr. and Mrs. Donald Teter. Monday of this week, Mrs. John Flora, Jr., of Plymouth, was a visitor of Mrs. J. C. Milner. Mr. and Mrs. David Frame and
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Adkins were in Meadow Bridge. West Virginia, several days last week visiting Mrs. Glenna O'Connor. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vandall and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Harris and family. They also attended Mrs. Frame's class reunion w hilc there. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hughes, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, were here for a week visiting with his parents. Rev. and Mrs. William Hughes. Mrs. Rachael Barthel, LaPorte. was an overnight guest of Mrs. Esther Kaufman Tuesday and Wed nesday and they visited with Mrs. Grace Burch, in Hamlet. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mullet were Sunday visitors with her sister. Mrs. Fred Rink, at Lake Wawassee. Fourth of July supper guests of Mrs. Bertha Urbin were Dr. and Mrs. John Guttman. Cindy and John, of Wakarusa. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin and Mr. and Mrs. John Guttman, of Walkerton. A cook out and picnic supper was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Cripe and daughter. Kari on the 4th of July for their families, neighbors and friends. Mrs. C. L. Lawrence entertained on Tuesday evening of this week for eight ladies with the honored guests being Mrs. Ellen Brede, Koontz Lake. A delicious dinner was served at 6 o’clock and the remainder of the evening was spent playing bridge and visiting. Guests included Mrs. Retta Williams. Mrs. George Ferverda. Mrs. G. Lawrence. Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mrs. John Schamer and Miss Dorothea Brenner. Mr. and Mrs. John Mohler, of Suffield, Ohio, were here on Wednesday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kerchaert and Mrs. Marvin Stahley. Mrs. Stahley returned home the first of July from a months stay in Dearborn, Mich., with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ries. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Owens, of Indianapolis, were week end guests of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Fenstermacher and family. Rev. and Mrs. Mark Fenstermacher and son, of Elkhart, were there on Saturday evening visiting. Jimmy Haney, George Hazel, Katie Hershberger, Mary Hazel, Elizabeth Fenstermacher and Angela Zekucia, of Walkerton and Jill Steele, of North Liberty, will be attending Camp Adventure at Epworth Forest next week. Mr. John Hostetter, of Indianapolis, spent last week here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hostetter. The regular monthly business meeting of the Koontz Lake Conservation Club will be held this Friday evening at the club house and the carry-in dinner for club members and their guests will be on Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart as hosts. Dr. and Mrs. Richard Hershberger, Katie and Lorie were in Greencastle over the week end to attend a reunion of Dr. Hershberger’s cross country team from DePaw University. A dinner was held honoring their coach, Robert Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baker and family, of Bremen, attended the Heim family reunion on Sunday in South Bend. Mr. Charles Heim, of Carls Bad, California, came and is the guest of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Heim, in North Liberty, and is visiting with his brothers and sisters and other relatives in the Walkerton, North Liberty and South Bend areas. A fourth of July picnic was held at the home of Mrs. Frank Dunn with the following guests present, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gore and family, of Crete, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. James Rook, of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Dunn, of Goshen, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dunn, of Elkhart, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dunn and family, of Lafayette. North Liberty. Mr. and Mrs. Don Teter, of Mishawaka and Mrs. Chester Thayer, of Miller's Merry Manor. Walkerton. Rev. and Mrs. Robert C. Bowman recently attended his 50th class reunion at Johnstown. Pennsylvania. He gave the invocation. Os a class of 225, 60 members are now deceased. He reports the experience was worth it all and hopes to attend five years hence. They visited his two sisters and their families from there and his brother in Pittsburg. On their return trip home they encountered gale force winds and a small tornado and flooded cornfields south of Toledo. Recreation To Be Held July 17-21 At Place Park The St. Joseph County Parks and Recreation Department summer traveling recreation program will be in Walkerton at Place Park on July 17-21, each day from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The program is open to all ages, pre-schoolers (5 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult). The program schedule is as follows: Monday, July 17 Registration day, get acquainted, outline week's activities. NATURE CRAFTS nature name tags, rock animals; SURVIVAL SKILLS basic knot tying and lashing technique; NEW GAMES and more. BETTER HOMES CLUB MEETS The Better Homes Extension Club met on Monday evening, June 26. at the Walkerton Community Building with 12 members present. The meeting was opened with the pledge to the flag followed by the club creed. Roll call was answered w ith one new conservation measure that you practice. Mrs. Dorothy Sheaks gave the lesson on misuse of natural resources. It was decided that the club would see “Guys and Dolls, ’’ at the Wagon Wheel Playhouse, Warsaw, on August 24. For further information and reservations call 5862484 or 586-3103. The meeting was closed with the club prayer. Bunco was played with prizes going to Mrs. F. Dunn and Mrs. Charles Minter. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Harry Masterman and Mrs. Sheaks. The July meeting will be the annual picnic to be held on Monday, July 17, at the home of Mrs. Roy Freeman. Co-hostesses w ill be Mrs. Minter, Mrs. Harold Eddinger and Mrs. Alan Eddinger. Members are to bring a salad or dessert.
