Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stillson, Cassopolis, Michigan, entertained on Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Storey and son, Gerald; Mr. and Mrs. Craig Campbell and son, Jashua. Fort Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Krute and children; Mrs. Irvin Sczcypski, South Bend; and Mrs. Georgia Stillson. Walkerton. Mr. George Pfeiffer's grandchildren held an open house on Sunday in Frankfort, Illinois for Mr. and Mrs. Garlic Sheffer who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Sheffer is a sister of Mr. Pfeiffer. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pfeiffer, of Fontana, California. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and Paul spent last week in southern Ohio visiting friends and sightseeing. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pickavet and families, were in Decatur, Michigan, for the week end visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Daniels. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schmeltz were at Winona Lake Sunday where they met three other couples that belong to their camping club. The other couples were

from Niles, Michigan. Fort Wayne and Winona Lake and they made plans for their camping trips for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fitzgerald spent Sunday afternoon in South Bend visiting Mrs. Alta Rensberger. A bridal shower was given Sunday afternoon in the home of Vickie Capck with Karen Groves and Carol Cripe assisting. The shower was given for Miss Rashel Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jackson. The wedding to Mike Davis, of Argos, will take place on June 17. There were 15 guests at the shower and punch, ice cream and cake was served. Games were played for entertainment. Mrs. Russell Smith and Mrs. Viola Bregi, of Koontz Lake, spent the week end in Illinois with friends and relatives. Mrs. Smith was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. M. Gentile and family, of Lombard, on Saturday and Sunday was in Crestwood for her granddaughter’s confirmation in Faith Lutheran Church while Mrs. Bregi visited her daughter and family in Burbank. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brehm,
of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brehm, of Fort Wayne, were Thursday night and Friday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brehm of Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. William Erzig and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tanka will be serving as hosts for the Conservation Club dinner this week and next. June 10 and 17. On Friday. June 16. in the evening, the club will hold its regular business meeting in the club house and all members should attend these meetings. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Burnside were in Milford, Indiana, Sunday to visit her sister. Mrs. Edith Baumgartner. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker attended three open houses for graduates from North Liberty and South Bend schools on Sunday afternoon. North Liberty graduate was Dana Bare and from South Bend Diane Friefer and Steve Faegley. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Kennedy came home last week from a week end stay in Indianapolis with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sullivan. They had attended the graduation of their grandson. Steve, from high school, and their grandson Kevin came home with them for the remainder of the week. Kevin is a sophomore at Purdue University. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jacob, of Wolcotville, Indiana, were here over the week end to visit his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Jacob. Mr. and Mrs. Harris Grotenstein, of Coronado. California, are the proud parents of an eight pound baby boy, named Michael Harris. Mrs. Grotenstein was the former Laura Divine and grandpa and grandma Divine and Mrs. Jim Patterson flew out to see and help care for the new baby, returning home last week. Mr. John Cecrle, of Indianapolis, spent Tuesday of this week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Cecrle. Mr. and Mrs. Erville Kaercher have returned from Decatur. Georgia. where they visited with their son. Joel, who has a broken ankle and is now able to be back to work. On their return trip they drove thru Chattanooga and were at Lookout Mountain where the view was spectacular. The St. Patrick’s Women’s Club will hold a rummage sale at the Town Park, Walkerton, next to Powers Ford Sales, from 9:00 a.m.

Mrs. Esther Smith, Cincinnati. Ohio, sister of Miriam Auxier, was a welcome guest in her home for two weeks after Miriam returned from the hospital. Mrs. Smith was a real blessing and a helpful friend as well as a sister. St. Patrick’s Women’s Club will hold their annual rummage sale at the Urey Park, downtown Walkerton, on Saturday, June 10 from 9:(X) a.m. to 12:00 noon. Jack Rosenberry and William Boelkins have returned from a ten day fishing trip to Fossten, Minnesota. They reported that they caught their limit every day. On May 27 a surprise carry-in dinner was held in celebration of the 90th birthday of Minnie Taylor in her home with many church friends in attendance. Minnie Taylor and Miriam Auxier wish to thank everyone who helped in the celebration and for the good fellowship and good food. Russell Ruby is a patient in the LaPorte Hospital, room 585. He can have visitors. Saturday. June 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon will be the annual rummage sale of the St. Patrick’s Women's Club at Urey Park, downtown Walkerton.

Indeed, the two flavors seem made for each other, combining beautifully as they do in more than one recipe Whether you serve the drink with the cake, as you might at a bridge party, or separate the two with a complete, intervening meal, you can be sure of evoking the mood of the leisurely life on a Caribbean island PINA COLADA CAKE 1 package w hite cake (2 layer size, or a 10 1/2 ounce package) 1 envelope (2 ounces) whip topping mix 4 eggs 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup Bacardi dark rum (80 proof) 1 cup flaked coconut In large mixer bowl, combine all cake ingredients except the coconut. Blend until moistened; beat 4 minutes at medium speed on electric mixer Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube or bundt pan Bake at
PRESENT RECITAL Piano and voice students of Mrs. Wendy Weber, of North Liberty, were presented in recital on Friday, June 2, in the educational building of the North Liberty United Methodist Church Voice students who performed were Elisa Norris, Allison Dunnuck, Lisa Foresman and Kim Dunnuck. Piano students performing were Julie Camblin, Carmen Manuel, George Karst, Carla Manuel, Julie Warner, Mrs. Carol Beghan, Jennifer Norris and Tracey Burch. Frosting 1 can (8 ounce ) crushed pineapple, undrained 1 package (4-serving size) instant coconut cream-flavor pudding mix 1/3 cup Bacardi dark rum (80 proof) 1 1/2 cups heavy cream Combine all ingredients except heavy cream; beat until well blended Whip cream to soft peaks Fold in pineapple mixture and frost cake. Sprinkle generously with coconut. BACARDI PINA COLADA 1 ounce cream of coconut 2 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice 1 1/2 ounces Bacardi light or dark rum Combine 1 ounce cream of coconut with 2 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice (or use Pina Colada. Mix). Add 1 1/2 ounces Bacardi light or dark rum Mix ingredients in blender with crushed ice, or stir and serve on the rocks Serve each cocktail with pineapple spear, if desired.
