Mrs. Cindy Gillies left for Burtonville, Maryland, after spending a week here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Gillies. She attended her sister. Bobbie Jo’s, graduation from John Glenn High School on Sunday, May 21. Mrs. Betty Birtwhistle and daughters, Kathy and Becky, of Bremen, spent Tuesday here with her mother, Mrs. Violet Brantley. Mrs. George Hillia, Koontz Lake, spent the past week end with her mother, Mrs. Helena Chriustman, in Waukesha. Wisconsin, and with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Peterson, in Sussex, Wisconsin. Mrs. Gene Golinski, of Chicago, has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Campbell, for a week. Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Beaty spent the long Memorial Day week end in Ohio visiting with relives in Belle Center, Kenton and Lima. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Sharpe, of Muncie, were visiting with her mother, Mrs. Charles Bandendistel, last Friday. She then accompanied them to Mishawaka for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Duffey. Mr. and Mrs. John Solmos spent the week end in Indianapolis with their two sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. David Solmos and Mr. and Mrs. Larry McDaniel. Mrs. Carl Schober, Mrs. Peggy Glendenning and Mr. Tom Coughlin, of Chicago, were Monday dinner guests of Mrs. Arthur DeMyer. Mrs. Roger Hellinga and children, of Middlebury, were Sunday guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Beagles and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Anderson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beagles and family in celebration of Mr. Beagles’ birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Milner and family, of Warsaw, were Sunday visitors of Mrs. J. C. Milner. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murphy returned home last week from a visit with their son and family, Mr and Mrs. Michael Murphs, in Lou isville, Kentucky. On their way home they also stopped in India napolis to visit with another son. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Murphs and family. Mr. and Mrs. William Bierls attended the Indiananapolis S(X) Mile Race on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Craig DeMyer were in Martinsville Saturday evening and on Sunday they attended the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murphy were his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Murphy, of Mountain Center, California. Mrs. Esther Kaufman was a Sunday and Monday guest of Mrs. Rachel Barthel, in LaPorte. Mrs. Forrest Cooper, of Pekin, Illinois, was here for a week visiting with her son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. James Millice, Koontz Lake, and other friends and acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Orren Duthie had as their guests for the week end Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duthie and family, of St. Joseph. Michigan, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burchfield and family, of Chesterton. The Koontz Lake Conservations Club will be enjoying their regular Saturday evening carry-in dinner again at the club house following the holiday week end. Hostesses for this Saturday will be Mrs. Dwight Burch and Mrs. William Michalski. Mr. Carl Fults, of Florida, and his sister, Mrs. Beatrice Sester, of South Bend, were Saturday visitors of Mrs. Vern Johnson. On Monday, Mrs. Johnson’s guests were from South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cripe and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Awald. BIRTHDAY DINNER ENJOYED A birthday dinner in honor of Darlene Vieting. of Hamlet, and Francis Miller, of Killeen, Texas, formerly of North Liberty, was held on Memorial Day at the home of Mrs. Esther Anderson. Those attending were Dave and Darlene Vieting and family, of Hamlet; John and Laura Reed and family . Sue Sickman and daughter, Russell and Irene Schmidt and family. Robert and Roberta Keck and family and Rick and Dick An derson. all of Walkerton; and Tom, Carrol and Donna Miller, of Security. Colorado. In the afternoon Carrol Miller did her impresonation of Wonder Woman followed by a water fight. Later in the evening a volleyball game and softball game was held. Everyone had an enjoyable time. Celebrate Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Grant Steele. Walkerton, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 28. at the North Liberty Church of the Brethren with approximately 160 guests attending. The reception was given by their children. Happy Belated Birthday GRANDPA Love SHERRY Senior Bowlers Hold Banquet A bowling banquet for the Senior Citizen League that bowled at the Pizza Bowl Lanes. Walkerton, on Wednesday afternoons, was held at the ALN-Dor Restaurant on Wednesday, May 31. After 18 weeks of bow ling the top ten bowlers were honored at the banquet and they are Stan Labno, with an average of 160.21; A. J. Kennedy, 156.19; Russ Bruesch, 150.33; Emil Vische, 147.31; Richard Dipert, 144.10; Sally Barna, 143.11; Eleanor Knight, 140.46; Merle Bruesch, 140.4; George Barna, 138.26 and Charles Jovce, 137.17. The other participants for the season in alphabetical order include Elliott Bobbe, Helen and Robert Bowman, Lucille Dickson. Alice Dipert. Lou Dipert. ENJOY CAMPOUT Thirteen from the area camped over the Memorial Dav week end at McCormick’s Creek State Park located by Spencer, Indiana. Activities enjoyed were swimming, hiking, volleyball, basketball, horseback riding, tennis and shuffleboard. 1 hose attending wer Tom and Susan McGee, Joe and Pat Setnor. Ihe weather was beautiful for the four days spent there and everyone got plenty of sun and had an enjoyable time.
