In the murals the students are using cartoon characters. One is of Charlie Brown at Halloween time; another is Thanksgiving with Winnie The Pooh; Christmas with Mickey Mouse and Easter with Bugs Bunny. The work will be completed in the mid-summer.
SENIORS FELLOWSHIP PICNIC IS SET The Senior Fellowship Club, Walkerton, will meet on Monday, June 5, at 12:00 noon at Potato Creek State Recreation Area for their regular meeting and picnicluncheon. It is suggested that some members arrive around 11:00 a.m. to arrange for the picnic facilities, as reserving of space ahead of time cannot be made. This will be the picnic discussed at the May meeting and as usual, members are to bring their table service with w hatever food they plan for outdoor serving. In the event of rain, the president said the picnic will be cancelled and the club will meet for dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the Walkerton Community Building. It is also suggested that each car be filled as a fee of $1.25 is charged per car, whether there is one passenger or five. In this way the cost per person is very little, so arrange
beforehand for rides. Be at the Community Building by 11:00 a.m. and on your way by 11:30. We are all familiar with picnic activities and as in the past, a very enjoyable day is anticipated. Please try to get together on transportation. NORTH LIBERTY METHODIST WOMEN TO MEET The North Liberty United Methodist Women will present “Festival From India", Tuesday, June 6. at ':00 p.m. All those attending are invited to wear Indian costume as a prize will be given for the best dressed. The program will feature the church school classes from kin dergarten through senior high sharing the religion, music, games and customs of the Indian people. An Indian family from South Bend will be the honored guests. Refreshments will be typical Indian desserts, if you always wondered

NEW PACKAGING GUIDELINES Postmaster Robert Awald today issued a reminder to postal customers in Walkerton that if the Postal Service's new packaging guidelines are followed they can virtually eliminate damage to their parcels. Postmaster Awald said that checks at bulk mail plants show that more than 80 per cent of all articles damaged in the mails were improperly packaged. . While the regulations and guidelines adopted recently by the Postal Service are detailed, they boil down to several basic steps that can help assure safe delivery. First, select a strong carton. Use a fiberboard box with the “burst test" printed printed on it. If the box says, for instance. 125 lbs. it can be used for mailing many types of merchandise
weighing up to 20 pounds. When a person is shipping dense or hcavv materials, such as hooks, stronger boxes are required. For 10 pounds of books the Postal Service recommends a box with 1 "5-lb. burst test. I he Postal Service suggests that wrapping paper not he used on cartons. It a wrapper is torn or lost in transit, the mailing address can disappear. Further, the paper adds nothing to the package’s strength. Ihe use of masking and cellophone tapes for closing or sealing is prohibited. In transit thev tend to peel off. and thev have little strength. String is not recommended. It twine loosens, it can

A final suggestion: Enclose a return address card in the package so that it can be returned if the mailing label is damaged or lost.
