Achievement Roll At Urey School Released The Urey Middle School has announced it “Achievement Roll" following the second nine-week grading period. The achievement rolls are made up of students who have been recommended by one or more of their teachers for substantial improvement in their studies during the grading period just ended. Students who made the Honor Roll for the second nine-week grading period are not listed on the Achievement Roll. Annual South Bend Classic Track Meet Set The Fourth Annual South Bend Classic Indoor Track Meet will be held on Saturday, March 25, at the Notre Dame ACC. Field Events will begin at 9:30 a.m., running trials will begin at 10:00 a.m. and running finals will begin at 12:00 noon. In all. 29 schools from Indiana and Michigan will be competing in two classes, making this meet the largest indoor high school invitational in Northern Indiana. Mangus (R-Lakeville) announced on February 14. that he intends to enter the May 2 Republican primary, in his efforts to seek reelection to the Indiana House of Representatives, District 10. District 10 contains all of Lincoln, Greene, Center, Liberty, Union and Madison Townships and a portion of Penn Township in St. Joseph County. Now completing his third twoyear term in the House, Mangus named protection of the 1973 property tax relief program and interest in pursuing enactment of fair annexation laws as reasons he intends to run again. Author of the 1977 Eminent Domain Act. which spells out a landowners's “bill of rights’’ in condemnation proceedings, Mangus also said he wants to continue to monitor administration of the law, to determine if it needs additional fine tuning. : DR. Having earned a chairmanship of the standing committee on Elections and Reapportionment because of his seniority, Mangus also served on Agriculture. Human Affairs. Natural Resources, County and Township Business and Public Policy and Veterans Affairs Committees. When the legislature is not meetting. Mangus participates on special task forces, and in that capacity, has helped write legislation on energy problems, the Tilling of vacancies in the office of Governor and Lt. Governor, as well as the eminent domain process. Mangus and his father manage a three generation dairy farm. In the community, he is an adult 4-H leader, a member of the Associted Milk Producers, the Masons, the Lions Club, the Farm Bureau and the Brethren Church. He attended Purdue University. His minitary service was in the National Guard. Mangus and his wife Mary reside at 69391 U. S. 31 in Lakeville. They arc the parents of five children: Marsha, 23; Russell, 21. Richard. Jr., 18; Ronald. 13; and Rvan.s.

SENIOR CITIZENS BOWL FOR FUN More and more senior citizens are coming out to bowl at the Pizza Bowl Lanes, Walkerton, on Wednesdays at 2:00 p m.. E.S.T. Stan Labno had a 191 game; Dick Dipert had a 177 game and Russell Bruesch had a 472 series. Ann Labno had a 169 game The senior citizens are getting better and having a great time doing it. There are open alleys if you care to join the seniors. You are welcome. BENEFIT BREAKFAST The Lincoln Township. LaPorte County, Volunteer Fire Department is having a benefit breakfast for their fire department. The pancake breakfast will be served at the fire house. Fish Lake, on State Road 4 on Sunday, March 12 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and milk are on the menu. A donation of $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children under 12. Short cuts to success are often just mirages in the distance.
