In an order issued December 17, 1978, the Public Service Commission authorized electric distribution utilities in Indiana to adjust rates to reflect increases or decreases in costs incurred for purchased power under firm contracts from utilities after those changes have been approved by FERC, formerly the Federal Power Commission. The tracking of wholesale power costs by NIPSCO is subject to the Public Service Commission’s approval. NIPSCO generates a major portion of its electric power supply, but also has firm purchased power contracts with Indiana A Michigan Electric Company and Commonwealth I dison Company. As a result of the proposed adjustment. a NIPSCO residential customer using 500 kilowatt hours of electricity per month will pax 14 cents per month more for this service. As with gas supply tracking adjustments and electric fuel tost adjustments, NIPSCO does not realize one cent of profit from purchased power adjustments. The money goes directly to the gener ating companies from which the power is purchased. W. C. Fields' real name was Claude William Dukenfield,
