WALKERTON Dawn. Scott and Eric Delaney, of Lafayette, spent the week end with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton. Sunday dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Delaney. Mr. and Mrs. David Knowlton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Knowlton and sons, and Mrs. Dave Drews and sons. Four sisters came Thursday to spend the afternoon with Miss Ethel Bierly. They were Mrs. Florence Truhn. Mrs. Margaret Klutc and Mrs. Thelma Jean Smith, all of New Carlisle, and Mrs. Emma Leah Hellenga, of Three Oaks, Michigan. These sisters became friends of Miss Bierly when she taught school at Hudson lake and before their marriages they were known as the Goodenough sisters because that was their name. Saturday evening the Conservation Club dinner hosts will be Mrs. Helen Tanka and Mrs. Helen Kaleth Election of officers was held Friday evening and the following persons will sene for the coming year: president, Don Dipert; \ice-president, Ruth Brehm; secretary. Florence Stewart; and treasurer. Lucille Dipert. Directors are Charles Shogren. Stan Labne and Dick Dipert.

Mrs. William Bouse. Mrs. Regina Wells, Mrs. Esther Kaufman, all of Walkerton, and Mrs. Rachael Barthel, of LaPorte, went on a senior citizen tour last Tuesday and Wednesday through Brown County. All enjoyed the tour very much and the weather was ideal and the scenery beautiful. Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Mrs. J. C. Milner were in Winamac Friday to visit Mrs. Urbin's sister, Mrs. Anna Allen, and Mrs. Milner visited friends, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hott, who was also a former acquaintance of Mrs. Urbin. A birthday party was held on Wednesday evening of last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. GaryShields and family and the occasion was honoring the birthday of Mrs. Nellie Smith. The other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Warner Gark, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Zumbaugh and daughter, of Plymouth, Mr. Gary Clark and children and the guest of honor, Mrs. Smith. Ice cream and cake was served. Mr. and Mrs. Acil Hunter and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Seaholm entertained their Mrs. Walter Rupprecht. her husband and son Kent, who came from Midland. Michigan. to spend the week end. Mrs. Noble Sheatsley and Mr. and Mrs. Noble Sheatsley, Jr., of Falls Church. Virginia, went to Louisville, Kentucky over the week end to see Mrs. Sheatsley's greatgranddaughter and visit Mr. and Mrs. Don Sheatsley .
Mrs. Allen Rushton and son Aaron, and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein were in South Bend on Sunday to visit Mr. George Matz. Mrs. Blanche Rensberger, of Santa Anna, California, was here for a week visiting cousins, Mrs. Fritz Skinner, Mrs. Lloyd Smith and Mrs. Homer Martin. On Sunday afternoon she and Mr. and Mrs. Skinner were in LaPorte to visit Mrs. Don Hilgendorf. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein entertained Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson for dinner Saturday evening and this was celebrating Mrs. Johnson's birthday. Mrs. Morris Malstaff, of Union Mills, was a Friday evening visitor with her sister, Miss Ethel Bierly, and on Saturday they went to North Judson to attend the North Judson festival. The following people came last week on different days to wish Mrs. J. C. Milner a happy birthday: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Milner, of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Parsons, of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Taie, of South Haven, Michigan; and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wolff. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Reeder, of Arleta, California, were here visiting relatives. On Sunday they were dinner guests of Mrs. Mamie Hahn. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Williams, and Mr. and Mrs. James Farrer, of Bremen. Mrs. Nellie Smith and Mrs. Nora Hahn called in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. George Pfeiffer entertained a group of friends at their home on Friday evening with a delicious turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Gell Fouts, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner. Mr. and Mrs. Weltha Burnside, Mr. and Mrs. Gaude Grenert, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Waldron, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Elder, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pogodzinski, Mrs. Dorothy Walsh, all of Walkerton, and Mrs. Blanche Rensberger, of Santa Anna, California. Mrs. Elsie Cranbert took a trip to Berwyn, Pa., to visit her son, Albert Crambert, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ferris, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, were here Sunday to spend the day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kuklinski, of Koontz Lake. Marjorie (Dunn) Rook, from Chicago, entertained a group of former classmates at her mother's home (Mrs. Fayette Dunn) on Tuesday, October 18. A lovely luncheon was served, much interesting reminiscing, pictures taken of the group, and a renewal of friendships, bringing up to date family happenings, children episodes, present occupations and interests. Guest attending were Geneva Bettcher, Verice Walz, Ella Nusbaum, Jennie Gillette, Norma Dill, Irma Rasmussen, Rosamund Short, Evelyn Lawrence Esther Shultz and Mitzi Gore. Mr. Leonard Beaty returned home Sunday evening from a two week visit with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roberts, and son Bill, of Canoga Park, California. While there he attended the three world series games played at Los Angeles and did some sightseeing. Mrs. Leonard Beaty entertained with a supper Sunday evening in honor of her husband's return from California. Those present were their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cole and son Rick, and a nephew and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Reeder, of Arleta, California. ia. The same were guests of the Beatys on Monday evening for a rabbit supper in addition were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hostetter in honor of Roy's birthday. JOHNSON TOWNSHIP FARM BUREAU MEETS Mrs. Charles Zila, LaPorte County Pet and Hobby Leader, conducted the election of officers for the Johnson Township Farm Bureau Thursday evening, October 13 at the Community Building. The following officers were elected: Cyde Snodgrass, chairman; Floyd Dipert, vice-chairman; Mrs. Harold Knowlton, treasurer; Mrs. Larry Anderson, secretary; Mrs. Martha Mull, women’s leader; Mrs. Richard Hesters, assistant women’s leader; Mrs. Esther Kaufman, reporter; and Miss Judy Dipert, Pet and Hobby leader. Mrs. Knowlton, assistant women’s leader, gave the devotions. Mr. Dipert, chairman, presided at the business meeting and reported on the County board meeting, stating membership dues are now $20.00. He quoted prices on the fruit and juices that will be available again this year. Women's leader and pet and hobby meeting will be October 17 at the Farm Bureau Insurance meeting room and the District meeting October 31 at Francesfilie. Mr. and Mrs. Dipert, Mr. and Mrs. Knowlton and Mrs. Charles Daube were appointed on the membership drive. Miss Penny Zila was a guest. The November meeting will be a turkey supper with Mrs. Daube, Mrs Kaufman and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hesters on the committee. Attendance awards were received by Russell Burch and Mrs. Kaufman. LINCOLN TOWNSHIP HOMEMAKERS MEET The Lincoln Township Homemaker’s Gub met at the clubhouse Tuesday, October 4. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Mayotte Arseneau. Roll call was answered by “A surprise deed done my me.” Twenty-four members were present with one guest, little Angie Ruby. It was voted to give to a memorial for our former member, Mrs. Hazel Barden, to the United Methodist Church. The secretary and treasurer's reports were read an approved. Mrs. Guttman gave us something on cultural arts. Cards were sent to Nellie Verkier Marie Stahly and Mamie Mackin. An invivtation from Johnson Township Home Economics club was read. The dinner is at 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday. October 19. Twenty members said they would go. There will be no cancer sewing this month. The cancer tea in South Bend will be October 19. Six members, Mrs. Helen Decker, Mrs. Nedra Smith, Mrs. Dorothy Knowlton. Mrs. Hazel Schultz Mrs. Bertha Daube and Mrs. Martha Mull attended the Christmas workshop and baked goods contest at the fair grounds the previous Wednesday. There were many beautiful articles handmade and some delicious baked goods, which were later sold after the judging. Nedra Smith won ribbons on her cookies and zucchini bread. Etta Mae Milner, Helen Pogodzinski and Nellie Pfeiffer were on the committee. They served delicious cake and tea and coffee. Bingo was played. Ann Jackson, Hazel Schultz and Naomi Keeling are on the committee for November.
