^OBITUARIES MRS. GUSTAVE 0. VERKLER Mrs. Nellie Beatrice Verkier, 84. of rural route 5, box 31. Walkerton, died at 9:30 a m. Sunday in the Osteopathic Hospital. South Bend, after a brief illness. She was bom on November 23, 1892, in Walkerton and lived in this area most of her life. On May 12. 1915. in South Bend, she married Gustave 0. Verkier, who survives, along with a son, James, of Walkrton; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Nus-baum-Elkin Funeral Home, with Rev. William E. Hughes, pastor of the Walkerton United Methodist Church, officiating. 50-year member of Chapter 319, Order of the Eastern Star, Walkerton. a member of the South Bend Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Community Club and the Home Economics Gub, both of Walkerton. WADE A. STEVENSON Funeral services for Wade Arley Stevenson, 77, of 328 N Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, who passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 at a South Bend nursing home following a long illness, were at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church. Walkerton, with Rev. William E. Hughes, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. He was born on September 10, 1900. in Walkerton and had lived in South Bend for 15 years. He was married on October 10, 1922, in Walkerton, to Ellen Isabelle Gark, who preceded him in death on October 14. 1941. He was a retired employee of the B & 0 Railroad. Surviving are two sons, Wade Stevenson, Jr., of Othello, Washington, and Eugene E. Stevenson, Marseilles, Illinois; four daughters,
Mrs. Betty Burden, Fort Worth, Texas. Miss Marcella Stevenson and Ms. Nancy Marvel, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Gloria Schmidt. Green Bay, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; five great-grand-children; four sisters. Mrs. Garnet Eckert. Macy, Indiana, Mrs. Marjorie Lambert and Mrs. Verda Lollman, both of LaPorte, and Mrs. Winifred Sova, Cheboygan, Michigan. BOWEN, BRADEMAS, CROMWELL SET FOR UNITED FUND WRAP-UP This year's United Way campaign will wrap-up with a bang Seated at the head table at the Friday, October 28 Appreciation Dinner will be Indiana’s Republican Governor Otis R. Bowen and 3rd District Demoncratic Congressman John Brademas. Seated between the two and acting as master of ceremonies will be Jack Colwell, political reporter for the South Bend Tribune. The dinner will mark the close of the 1977 United Way 2.5 million dollar campaign. George Haley, general campaign chairman, said invitations to the dinner have been sent to campaign workers. The dinner will be held at St. Mary’s College on Friday night. October 28. A no-host cock tail party will be held at 6:00 p.m downstairs in the college's main dining hall with dinner upstairs at 7:00 p.m. A final report by Unit and Division chairmen will be given and the 1977 campaign total announced.
