Mr. and Mrs. George McGhee, of Mishawaka, called on Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fouts on Saturday afternoon, September 17. Mrs. Erma Cover Bessler. of Escondido, California, came to South Bend Friday. September 16, and was a guest of her sister. Mrs. Alta Rensberger. On Sunday she and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cover, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cover and family, of Hobart were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John McGovern and family. Mrs. Bessler was staying in the home of Mrs. Norma Dill until last Wednesday and then she returned to South Bend to visit with friends before leaving for home on Thursday of last w eek. Steve Bowers took second place in the King Salmon division with his catch of a 28 pounds and four ounce fish in the Sturgeon Bay contest in Wisconsin. In the September 15 issue of the paper we ran his picture wish his prize fish. Mr. George Matz and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein and Donna were Sunday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rushton and Aaron. Mrs. Robert Bowman and Mrs. George Hillis attended the St. Joseph County Council meeting of the Indiana Federation of Clubs which was held at the North Liberty Methodist Church on Wednesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn and family entertained at dinner on Sunday for Mrs. Mamie Hahn. Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hahn and son, of Etna Green, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn, Jr. and daughter, of Knox and Jerry , Cary and Kevin Hahn, of Michigan City. Mrs. George Barden, of Mishawaka. formerly of Walkerton, is in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, as a medical patient. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Larson, of Tecatonica, Illinois, spent a couple of days here last week visiting with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shogren, of Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert will be hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner on Saturday evening. Mrs. Raymond Kessler, of Fish Lake, visited Mrs. J. C. Milner, of the 76 Apartments, one day last week and on Friday Mr. and Mrs. Chalres Hott, of Winamac and Mrs. Pearl Kaley, of Detroit, Michigan, were here to spend the

day. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wolfe, of Park Forrest, Illinois, were here Saturday to visit with Mrs. Glen Walz and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. James Rook, of Chicago, and her mother, Mrs. Fayette Dunn, returned last week from a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia and Martinsburg. West Virginia. where they visited with relatives. In Williamsburg they attended their yearly family gathering. On Tuesday of last week Mrs. Floyd Rowe, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Arthur Gilpin and daughter Judy, of New Carlisle, were dinner guests of Mrs. Esther Kaufman. Mrs. Walter McCutcheon, of Phoenix. Arizona, and her brother, Mr. Charles Heim, of Carlsbad, California, spent a couple of weeks here visiting with relatives. On Thursday they and their brother Clarence Heim, of North Liberty, and sisters from South Bend and Plymouth were all at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker and

several other family gatherings were enjoyed while they were here. A birthday dinner was given for Mrs. Esther Kaufman by her family at Rodini's, in Michigan City, last Wednesday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bicrly, Mr. Art Zigler, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kaufman and daughter and Mrs. Carol Lee Epperson and family, of Lake Station. Mrs. Lawrence Freeman, of Norman. Oklahoma, and Mrs. Leonard Beaty were in Ohio visiting with their brother. William Campbell, who is in Lima Manor Nursing Home. He is slightly improved. Mrs. Freeman returned home on Wednesday.
