CMA Too Much For Shamrocks Saturday The Culver Military Academy Eagles proved to be too physical for the young North Liberty Shamrocks to handle Saturday in a game played at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of the Academy. North Liberty wasn’t able to contain the Eagles’ Jerry Now-otny who ran for three touchdowns. The loss was the third, all shutouts, for North Liberty this season against their lone win, also a shutout. The Eagles, a later starting school, raised their record to 1-1 with the victory. NL Statistics CMA First Dow ns 12 88 Rushing 268 44 Passing 36 6 Passes Attempted 5 2 Passes Completed 3 0 Had Intercepted 1 6 Punts 3 31 Average Yards 37 5 Fumbles Lost 2 65 Yards Penalized 40 The Eagles basically put the

game out of reach in the first quarter. They scored three times in the opening quarter on runs by Randy Pruit once and Nowotny twice, with a pair of two-point conversions made good to grab a big 22-0 first period lead. They added eight more points to this total before the halftime as John Mosely broke free on a 56 yard dash for another score and they added the two-pointer once again. The Shamrocks just couldn't cope with the power of the Eagles and had a very hard time gaining first downs. Five times they lost fumbles to CMA and on six more occasions they punted the ball away, giving the ball to the Eagles 12 times in all in the game. The statistics tell the tale, 268 yards rushing for the Cadets to the Green and White’s 88. The power of the Eagles simply kept the Shamrocks contained the entire game and the host from Culver used their reserves very freely in the second half.
