Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Daube were in Sibley, Illinois, on August 28 and 29 attending the Koehler family reunion. Mrs. Brvcc Rohrer. Ken. Kathy. Wendy and Angela attended the funeral of Mrs. Rohrer's grandfather. Dr. Ernest M. Linton. 94. who was a retired Indiana University professor and pastor of several Christian Churches in south central Indiana. The funeral was held in Bloomington at the First Christian Church. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Stull and family spent the week end in Terre Haute with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Holsinger and her brother. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Holsinger and daughter. Hospital patients as of Tuesday are Mrs. Russell Lawrence and Miss Ethel Bierly in the LaPorte Hospital; Mr. Howard Knowlton and Mrs. Dessie Reed are in the Osteopathic Hospital and Mrs. Pearl Wooley is in St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Faye Jones returned home on Sunday from a two week stay in Fort Wayne visiting her sister. Mrs. Hazel Foulks and other relatives. Dr. and Mrs. Richard Hershberger and family were in Hoopston. Illinois, to visit her mother. Mrs. D. R. Petry over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haag, of Tyner, called on Mrs. Chester Thaver Friday. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Teter and family, of Mishawaka, visited with Mrs. Thayer and also called on Mrs. J. C. Milner. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein spent the Labor Day week end in East Moline. Illinois, as guests of her brother. Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Matz. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beaty entertained on Labor Dav evening with a dinner honoring their grandson Bob Cole, who will be leaving for Ball State University this week. Other guests were his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cole and brother Rick and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hostetter, of Walkerton; Mrs. Cloyd Felix, of Lehigh Acres. Florida and Mrs. Larence Freeman, of Norman. Oklahoma, who are guests of their sisters. Mrs. Hostetter and Mrs.

Beaty. Mr. and Mrs. David Fitzgerald and son Chris, of Omaha, Nebraska were recent guests of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fitzgerald and Boh. Mr. and Mrs. John Vandall and Emily, of Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fitzgerald. of LaPorte. were also guests. Word was received last week of the death of Jay Downs brother. Jesse Cleland, of Traverse City. Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Downs, Jannise and Sister Mary Charity, of St. Mary's Convent attended the funeral in LiVonia. Michigan, on Wednesday. A neighborhood picnic was enjoyed on Sunday at Koontz Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hopkins and Mr. and Mrs. George Behneke as hosts. Other members of the Hopkins and Behnke families were present. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smillie and Dr. and Mrs. Carmichael. There were other guests coming from Gary. Goshen, Chesterton and Columbus, Ind. The dinner was cooked outdoors. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rush, of Sturgeon. Missouri, were here last week visiting relatives and friends around Walkerton. They were guests of Mrs. Charles Daube for a couple of days. On Friday of this week Mrs. F. S. Leroy, of San Diego, California, came to spend the week end with Mrs. Daube. She visited her brother. Earl Morrison here and a sister in New Castle. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wolff, of Fish Lake, spent one evening this week with Mrs. J. C. Milner. Thursday afternoon a birthday party was held for Mrs. Ernest Morris in her home to help bring her a little cheer to a lady who is and has been a bed patient for more than a year. Her sisters came with gifts and ice cream with cake and they are Mrs. Roy Wolff and daughter and Mrs. Paul Aldridge, of North Liberty; Mrs. Jane Norris, of South Bend; Mrs. Bill Bouse and Mrs. Glenn Mattocks and daughter. of Walkerton. Mrs. Morris enjoyed the afternoon and in the evening her family came with a few friends to make the day complete. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wray, of
Grapevine. Texas, came last week for a week vacation in Indiana. They are visiting relatives and friends while here staying as house guests of Mrs. Garland Lawrence. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch spent the week end in Pentwater. Michigan, visiting with her sister. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Hathaway. Mrs. John Myers, of Lansing. Illinois; Mrs. Roger Schnurlein, of Crown Point; Mrs. Orville Dance, of Colorado Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wray were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Garland Lawrence. Mrs. Alta Bowers was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Manteck and family on Saturday evening. Mr. Donald Hefner, of Washington. D.C., spent the week end here visiting his mother. Mrs. Rose Hefner, a resident of Miller's Merry Manor, of Walkerton, and his grandmother. Mrs. Lang, of the '76 Apartments. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brehm. Koontz Lake, were in Grayslake, Illinois, over the week end to visit with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schappert and family. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lute came home last week from a vacation spent in Anchorage, Alaska, where they visited with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lute and family. Terry is head pharmacist in the new Hospital Clinic in Anchorage. Douglas Lute, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jim Lute, of Valparaiso, were also in Anchorage just prior to their folks visit. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shogren, of Koontz Lake, for the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bentstie and family and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Malinvosky, of Berwyn. Illinois and Mrs. Virginia Malinvosky and Joe Nickles, of Chicago. They all attended the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tanka will be serving as hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner on Saturday evening at the club house with the usual social hour following. Mr. Dale Rensberger, of Inglesides. Texas, arrived here on Monday evening to visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rensberger. Other visitors on Monday afternoon were Mr. Victor Rensberger. of LaPorte. Mrs. Florence Sields. of Bourbon and Mr. and Mrs. George Giissman. of South Bend. Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin were Mr. and Mrs. David Mellin and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sudac, of Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Murphy, of Louisville. Murphy. On August 27 the following went to LaPorte to join the group, making a total of 45, that left on a tour sponsored by the LaPorte County Row Crop Food Producers. The group included Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Don Wray. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson, Mr. Harry L. Perkins and Mr. Clarence Morrison. all of Walkerton. They traveled by bus to Chicago and they caught a flight to San Francisco, California. They then went by bus with a retired county director as their guide to Sequoia National Forest and this being a farmers tour they went to San Joaquis County where they saw tomatoes being picked by machinery, saw hugh dairy farms and herds of cattle, flood irrigation in Madrea County and they saw beef feed lots and a herd of 2600 cattle being milked at one time. Grapes were being harvested for wine and raisins, almond orchards, figs, olives and cotton and also English walnuts being harvested. One evening they went to Fisherman's Wharf. After their California tour they then went by plane to Las Vegas to see the sights and try their luck. They returned home on August 31 feeling grateful for such a wonderful trip and a lot of fun. NOTICE The Oregon Township Senior Citizens meeting will meet on Thursday, September 15, at 12:00 noon in the Koontz Lake Conservation club house. The dinner is in appreciation of our club member Vi Shogren, queen for our district and representative at the State Fair. Mrs. Shogren will be bringing in fried chicken and ham so members are asked to bring in a covered dish that will go with the meat.
