FRED (MAC) MCNORTON Fred (Mac) McNorton, 501 Roosevelt Road. Walkerton. 77. died at 10:35 p.m. Monday, September 5 in the Osteopathic Hospital. South Bend after an extended illness. He was retired after 20 years of business in Gary and was later a radio operator at the Walkerton Police Department. McNorton was born on February 16. 1900, in Rockville. Indiana, and had lived in Walkerton since 1949, coming from Gary. On January 1. 1949, in Gary, he married Helen Kincaid, who died July 13 of this year. Surviving are a son. Patrick McNorton. of Hanover. Illinois; a daughter. Kathleen Sullivan, Aurora. Colorado; two step-sons, Jon Kincaid. New Carlisle, Indiana, and Charles Kincaid. Las Vegas, Nevada; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Thursday, September 8, at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. William E. Hughes, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Walkerton. officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and until services on Thursday morning. CARL H. GJEMRE Carl H. (Bub) Gjemre, 63, of route 5, Walkerton, died at 12:36 p.m. Sunday in the LaPorte Hospital after a brief illness. He was retired from Allis-Chalmers in LaPorte. where he had been employed for 10 years. He also did some farming. Gjemre was born on December 14, 1913, in Hagerman, New Mecixo. and had lived in the Walkerton and Grovertown area most of his life. On April 5. 1942, he married Irene Helen Pherson in Donaldson. She survives along w'ith a son, Paul, of South Bend, a daughter, Diane Gjemre. of Walkerton; two brothers. Kenneth, of Dallas, and Donald, of Walkerton; and a sister, Mrs. Alyse Anderson, of Walkerton. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. September 7 in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home with Rev. James McGee, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Donaldson, officiating. Burial followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. Gjemre was a member of the Walkerton Lodge 619 F & AM. American Legion Post 189, Walkerton. who conducted graveside services; and was in the Navy in World Warll. A.C.L.D. MEETING The A.C.L.D. Meeting will be held on Thursday. September 8 at 7:30 p.m., at the State Exchange Bank Building. Plymouth, Indiana. BAKE SALE The Evening Star Rebekah Lodge 465. Walkerton, will have a bake sale and chicken noodle lunch on Saturday, September 10 starting at 9:00 a m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, Roosevelt Road. Miss Debra Northam and Thomas Hall exchanged vows on Saturday, August 20 at 7 o’clock in the evening in the Walkerton United Methodist Church with Rev. William Hughes officiating at the candlelight double-ring ceremony. Candelabra arrangements featuring gladiolus and daisies graced the altar. Mrs. Evelyn Lawrence was organist and Tim Snyder, LaPaz, soloist. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Onalee Northam, Walkerton, and Dennis Northam, North Liberty. The groom is the son of Mrs. Shelia Hal), Mishawaka, and Howard Hall, South Bend. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride was lovely in a white Quiana knit floor length gown with Venice lace accenting the v-neck. The gown featured a chapel length train and she wore a finger tip veil accented with pearls. She carried white roses and white stephanotis. Maid of honor was Gina Carbiener, Walkerton. Bridesmaids were Kim Sarber, college roommate from Goshen, and Kathy Kersh. Walkerton. They wore pink Quiana knit gowns with chiffon caeplet sleeves and each carried two pink roses tied with burgandy bows. Flower girl was Janell Puss, cousin of the bride. Fort Wayne. Leonard Jaske, Walkerton, served as best man. Groomsmen were Wayne Buswell and Michael Clark, both of Walkerton. Ushers were Alan Northam, brother of the bride, Walkerton; Jerry Hall, brother of the groom. South Bend, Mark Lvbarger, brother of the groom, Mishawaka; and Robert Cole. Walkerton. Ring bearer was Todd Hall, nephew of the groom. A reception followed the ceremony in the LaPaz Community Building. Mrs. Dale Buchtel, aunt of the bride, served cake; Mrs. Arthur Puff, cousing of the bride, presided at the punch bowl and

Mrs. Dorothy Flaugher served the buffet luncheon. The couple are both graduates of John Glenn High School and are attending Ball Stage University, Muncie. PLJ Band Boosters Plan Citrus Sale The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson Band Boosters will be selling Florida citrus products soon. Proceeds from the sale will be used to help pay for the 1978 band camp, to purchase new equipment for the John Glenn and Urey Bands and to finance the cost of a summer-style uniform for the high school band. The sale will begin on September 17 with John Glenn and Urey students taking orders throughout the local area of both Walkerton and Tyner. David Frame Appointed As 0-D Principal The Board of School Trustee of the Oregon-Davis School Corpora tion has announced the appoint ment of David Frame as Elemen tary Principal. Mr. Frame has been employed by the Indiana Department of Public Instruction for the past seven years as a consultant to Pupil Personnel staff and school admin istrators. Prior to that time he served as Elementarv Schixil Coun selor at Polk Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation for three years For two years he was employed as an elementary school teacher for the Penn Harris Madison Schixvl Corporation Mr. Frame graduated from Walkerton High School. He received his B.S. degree from Bethel College in lMt»4 in Elementary Edu cation. He received his M.S. degree from Purdue in 196"' in Cou seling and Guidance. Mr. Frame is a member of the American Personnel and Guidance Association, American School Counselor Association, Indiana Personnel and Guidance Association. Northern Indiana Chapter of I.P.G.A. where he is currently serving as President. He also is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the national education honorary fraternity. FOOTBALL TEAMS AT HOME THIS WEEK END The John Glenn Falcons will open the home action of the area football teams this week end hosting the Fairfield Falcons in a North cm State Conference game at ”:30 p.m. Friday night. Both teams are winless in their first two outings. The North Libertv Shamrocks will host the Jimtown Jimmies also in a key Northern State Conference battle, Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson Field, South Bend. Both teams are 1-1 this season. NOTICE Ihe Oregon Township Homemakers Club will meet on September 13 at 12:00 noon at the Koontz Lake Conservation club house. Donation is $2.00 CAR WASH The John Glenn Alumni Car Wash will be held Saturdav. September 10 at Allen's Sunoco, downtown Walkerton, from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. The charge is $3.00 for wash and vacuum. DESSERT LUNCHEON The Woman’s Community Cub of Walkerton will have a dessert luncheon, business meeting and program on Frtdav. September 16 at the Wrdkerton Community Building. The Golden Harmonicans and pianist of LaPaz will present the program. Hostesses for the day will be Mrs. Herbert Lawrence, chairman; Mrs. Ben Brede, Mrs. Italo Carlassen, Mrs. Fred Fugger and Mrs. Grace Atwood.
