Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Newland and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newland were Mr. Ed Wiley, of Lafayette, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiley and daughter, of the Air Force Base in New Mexico, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wiley and son. of Lafayette. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wiley were just here for the day but the remaining guests stayed for a longer visit. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Thornburg, Dowagiac, Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Newland, of LaPorte, Mrs. Bonnie Smith. LaPaz, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Casteel and Mrs. Charlene Mann and children were guests. A family picnic was held on Saturday at St. Mary’s College in the club house honoring Mr. and Mrs. James Morrey who were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. The occasion was hosted by their children and families. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Apt. of South Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Youngman, of Mishawaka and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thompson, Koontz lake. Guests came from many places in Illinois and Indiana. A bus tour was the highlight of the afternoon's entertainment and with the usual good picnic dinner the day was a delightful one for the Morreys and meeting family members along with renewing past events. Mrs. Stanley Hostetler, Miss Ethel Bierly and Mr. Jim Clapper are patients in the LaPorte Hospital. Mac McNorton is in the Osteopathic Hospital, South Bend. Sidney Smith and Lloyd Dolan are both in the Plymouth Parkview Hospital. Dr. V. B. Wolfe is in the Browam County Hospital, Sebring, Florida. Mrs. Phillip Miler, of Nova Scotia, was here on Sunday to visit with her aunt, Mrs. J. C. Milner of the 76 Apartments. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jacob and family attended the Green family reunion in Lawton, Michigan, on Saturday. The families of Ora and Sarah Hostetler gathered for their reunion on Sunday at the Stuntz Pine Forest with 57 present. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hostetler were hosts and the group came from Hanover, Illinois; Plymouth and Walkerton. Games were played for the children while the adults enjoyed a softball game. The oldest present was Fritz Skinner and the youngest was Brook Hostetler. Next year the reunion will be held at the same place with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hostetler as hosts. Mrs. Tom Ball and daughters Mary and Lisa came on Sunday for a short visit with her mother, Mrs. Charles Martin and her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Don Martin in Lakveille. Mary Ball remained here in Walkerton with her grandmother for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schappert and children, Laura, David, Susan and Derek, of Grayslake. Illinois, spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brehm, at Koontz Lake. Mrs. Elizabeth Michalski and Mrs. Emma Ward will be the hos-

teses for the Saturday night carryin dinner of the Koontz Lake Conservation Club. Also there will be a business meeting for the members on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the club house. Mrs. Charles Shogren will be in Indianapolis on Thursday along with 15 other participants for the Senior Citizens Queen Contest. Mrs. Shogren represents the Area Number 1. Good luck Mrs. Shogren. Mrs. Bertha Urbin and her sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hughes, of South Bend, and Mrs. Anna Allen, of Winamac, spent Tuesday of this week in Logansport as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gifford and son. Mr. and Mrs. William Depoy, of Koontz Lake, was in Bourbon Sunday as guests of his brother and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Jake DePoy. This was a family gathering and Mrs. Dora Warner, a sister, came from Leesburg, Florida, for the occasion and will be visiting Mr. and Mrs. William DePoy for several days. One day last week Mr. and Mrs. DePoy and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shores went to Indianapolis to be with her mother on her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Crambert and daughters Anna and Becky, of Berwyn, Pa., left Monday after spending a week with the former’s mother, Mrs. Elsie Crambert. Mrs. Martha Young and her granddaughters, Tammy Youdbulis and Gail Young, of Hobart, went to visit a week with Mrs. Young’s brother, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ehrhardt, in Charlestown, Indiana. They had a very enjoyable trip. A surprise birthday party was held for Mr. Dale Ullery on Sunday evening at the park in Walkerton beginning with a pot luck dinner. His daughters, Mrs. Jerry Houser, Mrs. Robert Mercer and Mrs. John Kiracofe, planned and hosted the party with one hundred attending. Guests came from Niles and Stevensville, Michigan; South Bend, New Carlisle, LaPorte, Fort Wayne. Knox, North Liberty and Walkerton and Cedar Point, Wisconsin. Mr. Ullery was very much surprised when he arrived at the park and the host of relatives and friends already gathered and sang happy birthday to him. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. PRESBYTERIANS TO HEAR “COMMON BOND” Common Bond, a college music group, will present a sacred concert at the First United Presbyterian Church of Walkerton, 512 Georgia Street. Sunday, August 21 v The group will sing two songs during the worship service at 9:30 a m. and present the entire concert at a unified Sunday School session at 10:30 a.m. Music includes contemporary sacred songs, traditional hymns, and special selections for children. Common Bond is composed of eight students from Spring Arbor College. Michigan, who are touring the Midwest this summer. The concert is free and open to the public. Love is the same old game it was 10,000 years ago except that diamonds have replaced clubs.
