Corydon Capitol State Memorial To Open Saturday One of the oldest and most interesting Indiana government buildings will be open for public visits at the Corydon Capitol State Memorial beginning Saturday. August 20. Known as the Governor's Headquarters, the building served from 1822 to 1825 as both the official residence and office of the state's second governor. William Henricks. The two-story, federal style brick building was built as a private residence in 1817 for Davis Floyd, a convicted participant in the Aaron Burr conspiracy. Prior to 1841. the structure also served as a school, doctor's office and makeshift hospital. The building was the private residence of the Porter-Griffin families from 1841 until 1975, when it was acquired by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Preservation. The home eventually will be restored to its original appearance and the rooms will be furnished so that each will accurately depict one of its most interesting and unusual early uses. opportunity to see the home and learn some of the careful and painstaking processes which help determine which features are original and which are in need of restoration. Actual physical restoration of the building is expected to begin within a few months. Tours of the home will continue during this period so that visitors may observe the application of various restoration techniques. The Governor's Headquarters will be open for tours every Saturday and Monday from 9 a.m. until 12 noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. It will also be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Studebaker Employees Reunion Planned Plans for a reunion of former Studebaker employees and their immediate families are now underway. The reunion, scheduled for November 25-26-27, is being sponsored by Century Center and Discovery Hail Museum as one of a series of grand opening events this fall. It will be an opportunity for former employees to renew old friendships and reminisce about

the “good old days.” Not only will the event be a special event for the new civic center, but it will also mark the 125th anniversary of the Studebaker Corporation. As the planning stage progresses, many people will be needed to work on various activities. Anyone interested in volunteering to work on the reunion are asked to call Discovery Hall Museum at 284-9714. The next meeting of the reunion committee will be held Tuesday, August 30th at 6:00 p.m. at the Discovery Hal) office, 121 S. Michigan Street when committee assignments will be made. COMMUNITY CLUB OPENS SEASON SEPT. 2 A carry-in luncheon scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Stuntz Pine Forest will signal the opening of the Woman's Community Club of Walkerton, Friday, September 2. The 1977-78 budget will be presented. Yearbooks will be ready for distribution and dues may be paid at this time. Hostesses for this meeting will be Kathryn Kramer, Helen Hunter. Evelyn Froyck, Anne Gray and Marjorie Clark. CAMP OUT CANCELLED The North Liberty Drift-Breakers will not be camping out at Potato Creek State Park the 20 and 21 of August due to unforseen reasons, the park is not open yet.
