Mr. and Mrs. Randy Johnson. Kenny and Andrea and Mrs. Jennie Gillette, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Huhnke, Jr. and Linda, and Mrs. Eileen Clark and Veronica, were Sunday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Baker and Denise. Evening supper guest also was Mrs. Jennie Gillette. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Freeman and Mary returned on Saturday from a trip to Phoenix, Maryland, and Cedar Point Amusement Park at Sandusky, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Doan returned to their home in Largo, Florida, after spending a month here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Freeman and Mary and also her mother, Mrs. Iva Freeman, who is at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home. Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rushton and Aaron returned on Friday from a three week vacation in the west visiting with Mr. Rushton’s family in Nevada and other parts of the west. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein and Donna returned on Sunday from Pensacola Beach, Florida, where they attended the 13th reunion of the U.S.S. Enterprise CV-6. During their stay they visited Rosie O'Grady’s for lunch and were entertained by a Dixie Land band along with a tour of the historical district. They toured the Naval Aviation Museum and had lunch at Musting Beach Officer’s Club. Saturday they toured the U.S.S. Lexington and were served dinner by the crew. Captain Eugene McDaniel, of the Lexington, was guest speaker at the banquet held at the Casino Hotel on Saturday evening. Captain McDaniel was a prisoner of war of the North Vietnamese for seven years. Over 250 attended the banquet. The U.S.S. Enterprise CV-6 became a pile of scrap, despite an agressive campaign by association members to raise the several million necessary to restore her. For association members, hnowever. the metal plates of the hull, the layers and layers of decks and skyscraper skeleton of her superstructure reassemble every two year when the ghost of the gallant fighting ship becomes the rallying point for a host of poignant memories. For them the Enterprise lives. Plans are being make for the 1979 reunion in Hawaii. Guests for a week of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beaty were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Freeman, of Las Cruces, New Mexico. All day and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker last Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reed, of Walkerton; Mrs. Ruth Bare and Mrs. Bill O'Blenis, of North Liberty, Mrs. Ethel Hilligos, Mrs. Florence Weise and Mrs.

Helen Bricker, of South Bend. Mrs. Marvin Baker, Miss Cindy Huhnke, Miss Linda Huhnke and Mrs. David Clark were in Chicago on Wednesday at Wrigley Field to see the Cubs and Cincinnati double header. Last Saturday Plas Steel, Inc., held a picnic at their park for their employees and their families with over one hundred attending. The usual delicious dinner was spread on picnic tables under the shade trees and in the afternoon games and contests were enjoyed by everyone. The Lowry reunion was held Sunday at the North Liberty Park with 135 in attendance. Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ullery were her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Glade Wisler, of Valparaiso. On Sunday afternoon and evening Mr. and Mrs. Jess Wisler, of LaPorte, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wisler. of Hamlet, were guests. Guests that are spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shogren at Koontz Lake are Mr. Danny Shogren, of Wychoff, New Jersey; Mrs. Mary Mick, of Christopher, Illinois; Mrs. Virginia Melinosky, of Chicago; and Miss Milessia Temster, of Berwyn, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Burch will host the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner Saturday evening at the club house with an hour of visiting and games following the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Len Wilkins, of Stuart, Florida, are spending two weeks here with his sister, Mrs. Ellen Brede, at Koontz Lake. Mrs. Marylen Melgaard and daughter, Joan, were here for a week, from Bridgetown, Missouri. Mrs. Helen Bailie and Miss Margaret Bailie, of Morgantown, West Virginia, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Dickson, at Koontz Lake. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert, of Koontz Lake, for a couple days last week were her neice and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thornhill. Cindy, Missy and Robbi. They had been in Colorado for a trailer rally and were on their way home to Vienna, Virginia. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Berg, of Evergreen Park, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Cleil Fouts spent last Tuesday in Ludington, Michigan. Mrs. Goldie Chapman was a week end guest of Rev. and Mrs. Wallace Landes, Oak Brook, Illinois. A planned surprise for Mrs. Chapman was the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Simmons, parents of Mrs. Landes, from Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Simmons are cousins. The group enjoyed a delicious dinner at the famour Milk Pail Restaurant in Elgin, Illinois. After the meal many interesting places in and around Chicago were shown to the
Simmons including a view from the Sears Tower observations level on the 103rd floor. All attended the First United Presbyterian Church, in Downers Grove, Illinois, on Sunday morning when Rev. Laudes gave a stirring message entitled. “On Being the Community of Faith.” Mrs. Robert Bowman, Koontz Lake. Mrs. Lloyd Jeffries, Mrs. Harley Knowlton and Mrs. Cecil Dewey, of North Liberty, attended the Indiana Federation of Women's Cubs council meeting in Indianapolis last Tuesday. Highlights of the meeting were the presence of the national president, Mrs. Harry Wagner. Jr., and the executive secretary, Mrs. W. Ed Hamilton. Mrs. Warner told of the power of women all working together and the effect they can have in bettering our world. Relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Daube, Walkerton, from Illinois and Indiana, attended a reunion at the park in Monticello on Sunday, July 31. Others attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Don Daube and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Daube along with Mr. and Mrs. Lester Brown and families, of South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Craig DeMyer and Mr. and Mrs. Don Ludwig were in Medina, Ohio, over the week end where the men played in a fast pitch softball tournament with 16 teams participating from Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Canada. Day’s Construction of Plymouth, and a Canadian team played the final game with Day’s Construction winning the tournament and all their games. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brehm, of Koontz Lake, are Mr. and Mrs. William Blad, Billie, Ann and Tom, ail of Cedar Rapids, lowa. Mrs. Blad is a daughter of the Brehms. The Pike family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Jacob in Walkerton. There were 30 present to enjoy the day together and they came from Wilmette, Illinois; Winter Park, Florida; Owosso, Michigan; Madison Heights, Michigan; and Angola, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Miller, of Chicago, Illinois, were Sunday guests of Mrs. Ada Miller. A bridal shower was given Sunday at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Buchtel and daughter Linda, in Mishawaka with the honored guest being Miss Debbie Northam, daughter of Mrs. Onalee Northam. Debbie will become the bride of Tom Hall, of Walkerton, on August 20. Those attending the shower were from North Liberty, Fort Wayne, Mishawaka and Walkerton, making a total present of 35. Refreshments were served and contests were enjoyed for entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hostetter returned Sunday from a month vacation in the east. Their first stop was at Montclair. New Jersey, where the temperatures were well above 100 degrees. There they were visiting her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Woods and three sons, and since the temperature was a little unbearable they went to their hosts summer home on Sar-
amac Lake, in the Adirondack Mountians in New York. Here the weather was very pleasant and many interest things to see and do. They also paid a visit to Lake Placid where the Winter Olympics are to be held and where they are rapidly preparing to take care of the crowds. Many motels are being built and also lots of other construction completed with was very interesting. A great nephew, Richard Milner, 33, Niles, Michigan, of Mrs. Milner, 76 Apartments, Walkerton, was found dead as a result of a fall while hiking last week in the Colorado mountains. He is being transferred to Plymouth. He was a fifth grade teacher at Northside Elementary in Niles and was vacationing with his wife, Louise, when the accident occurred. His body was recovered by a ground search party on Saturday part way up a 14,000 foot Mt. Blanca, where he was near the summit of the climb when the accident happened. Nettie Barnhart and Birdie Searfoss. On Tuesday evening her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. James Hunn, of Ardmore, came with a lovely cake and ice cream and on Wednesday afternoon her sister, Leah Fox, of Bremen, came. Mrs. Kellogg received some lovely gifts and cards and she would like to extend her thanks to all for making her 87th birthday a most memorable one. Mrs. Kellogg also received a nice gift from her son. Jack, who is now residing in Palm Springs, California. On Sunday, July 24, her nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Egger, of Koontz Lake, took her out for dinner.
