Don't forget to see the parade in North Liberty on July 4 at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Anna Strycker and Mrs. Cora Betz were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Lillian Peterson and family. Dr. and Mrs. Hal Riekes, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were dinner guests Saturday of Mrs. Kathryn Hevel. Mrs. Riekes is Mrs. Hevel's granddaughter. Mr. Gordon Patrick was the guest of honor at a retiiement party on Sunday at the home of his son, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Patrick and Tammy. Those helping with the celebration were his wife, Nelle; his mother, Mrs. Betty Patrick, of Bremen Manor; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Buettner and Jill, of LaPorte; Mr. Phillip Patrick, Jeff and Jessie; Mr. Greg Shoemaker, of Lakeville; Mrs. Nettie Alward; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Alward. Deanna and Larry, Jr.; Mr. Robert Alward and guest Janie Herter; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Buettner. A pot luck dinner and swimming was enjoyed. Mr. Edgar Schwesbcrger. of Mishawaka, and his twin sister, Mrs. Edna Knwpp. enjoyed looking through a family scrapbook seeing themselves as children, teenagers and then married with families of their own during their 80th birthday celebration on Sunday with a family gathering at Riverview Lodge, 515 East Madison. brother moved to Mishawaka in 1918. He has six children and 16 grandchildren and his sister has three childrlen and seven grandchildren. But Mrs. Knepp leads in the great-grandchildren “derby” eight to five. We all wish them a happy birthday. Mrs. Mida Leaman, Mrs. Robert Hellwig, of Lafayette, Mrs. Carol Harden and daughters Pamela and Patrica, of Renton, Washington, were guests of Mrs. Mae Packer on Thursday. They ail thought North Liberty was a pretty town and they enjoyed the park. Mrs. Rachel Fullmer attended a banquet in honor of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiedge at the Holiday Inn on Sunday. The celebration was in honor of the Tiedges 60th wedding anniversary. The refreshment table was beautifully decorated with a four-tiered cake and flowers. Fifteen guests were present. Many gifts were received. The children attending the Daily Vacation Bible School at the Church of Christ gave a wonderful performance on Sunday evening showing the many things they had learned during the week's session. Thanks to the many ladies and gents that made it possible. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Charles and Jennifer flew to London. England. to see Mrs. Charles' parents in Braintree. They visited many friends and relatives and as this being Jennifer’s first trip abroad they saw the changing of the guard at the Palace and they were very close to the golden coach of Queen Elizabeth. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Mr. Charles got a lot of brass rubbings to complete his collection. It rained every day while they were there. After two weeks of the joy of being on England soil they headed for home and were
glad to be back home again. They go over about every three to five years. CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kronk, route 1, Walkerton, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary last Sunday. After the family attended church they all went to the Lucky Steer Restaurant, South Bend, for a lovely meal. Five of their grandchildren, Jeff, Debi, Tedd, Kim and LaDora presented their grandma with a lovely corsage and grandpa a boutonnier. Presents had been sneaked into the restaurant which were opened before leaving. Following the meal and gift opening, everyone stopped at the George Henry residence, the Kronk’s daughter, who had made a beautiful anniversary cake which was served with ice cream. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. George Henry and Evan, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kronk, Jeff, Debi and Tedd, Mr. and Mrs. LaMarr Kronk, Kimberly and LaDora, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Limerick and Joel and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Henry, he is associate minister at the Church of Christ, Morton, Illinois, were unable to attend. A good friend. Mrs. Mike Parsons, of North Liberty, also gave the Kronks a cake. Clara Mae Oxley and Calvin Kronk were married in North Liberty by her father, who was minister of the Church of Christ. North Liberty, on June 26, 1929. The Kronks have three children, Mrs. George (Wilda) Henry and Roger, of North Liberty, and LaMarr, of Walkerton; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. MARRIED Miss Marilyn Lee Wagers became the bride of Mr. Richard Edward Goff when they were united in marriage on Saturday. June 25. during a two o’clock ceremony in the Walkerton United Methodist Church with Rev. William E. Hughes, pastor, officiating. A reception was held in the church social room following the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wagers, Koontz Lake and the groom is the son of Mrs. Arietta Goff, 905 Harrison Street. Walkerton. Attending the couple were Miss Christine Linderman, of Bremen, and Scott Verkier. Walkerton. The couple will be at home at Route 5. box 172. Walkerton. DISTINGUISHED STUDENTS A total of 3,517 Purdue University students received distinguish-ed-student rank for the spring semester of the 1976-77 school year. The students represented, scholastically, the top 15.3 per cent of the 23,037 undergraduates on the West Lafayette campus during the second semester. The list released by Registrar Nelson M. Run-For-Fun, the largest turnout ever in the three-year history of the event. Walkerton area runners competing were Pat Cowger, who placed second with a time of 21:44, and Bob Relos was third with a time of 22:15 in the 4-mile run. Rod Back won the 2-mile event with a clocking of 11:46. Tim Cline was sixth at 12:09; Dale Schmeltz in eighth place with 12:11; John Frame was 12th with 12:22; Larry Lifford in 14th with 12:39 and Gerry Brown came in 20th with a time of 15:08. Bob Relos and Pat Cowger ran June 25 at North Judson in the Fireman’s Six Mile. Pat came in 17th and Bob in the 29th place. No times were given. Hope to see you near the covered bridge in Centennial Park in Plymouth on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and watch the Run-For-Fun.
