Awards ceremonies were held on Friday. May 27 at North Liberty High School in the school gym with many departmental awards, special awards, service awards, attendance awards and scholarships being presented. Departmental awards presented went as follows: business education. from the Michiana College of Commerce. Chris Stachowski was the recipient and Amanda Yoder honorable mention. In English, a medal was presented to Janelle Jaworski by Mrs. Finley. Honorable mention was Bob Albaugh. Dave Jacox was presented by Mr. VanderHagen. the John Philip Sousa and Louis Armstrong Jazz awards. Honorable mentions were Linda Schultz for the John Philip Sousa award and J. Parsons for the Louis Armstrong award. Drama award winner was Bob Kleitz and he received a pewter mug. The foreign language medal went to Diana Bennett and certificates were presented to Sharri Snyder. German: Bryon Shetler. Spanish and Shelly Loucks in French. The vo-agriculture medal went to Bob Dill. Nancy Beitler received the science medal from Mr. Lauver. Honorable mention was Dave Jacox. Social studies medal went to Bob Albaugh and Dave Jacox was the honorable mention. In boys physical education, the medal was presented to Nieves Gallegos with Tim Mathews honorable mention and in girls physical education Jill Knowlton received the medal and Suzanne Hartsough was the honor-

The home economics homemaking charm was presented by Mrs. Holmgran to Bunni Steel and Debbie Weaver; honorable mention was Becky Jones. The foods charm went to Patti Houser and the clothing charm was presented to Teresa Singleton. Mathematics medals went to Nancy Beitler with Karen Mortakis as honorable mention. Special awards presented earlier were the D.A.R., excellence in American historv. to Lisa Bauman and the D.A.R. Citizenship award to George Cole. The Ann Russ Memorial award went to Nancy Beitler. Service awards for elementary office assistants were presented certificates to the following, Shelly Bean. Colleen Eckhart. Debra Sheneman and Teresa Singleton. The elementary teachers aid certificate went to Jayne Brown, presented by the elementary principal, Mr. Hammond. The Link-Tribune award went to Nancy Bietler and the LaPorte Herald-Argus school reporter award went to Lisa Bauman. The school paper award of a medal and plaque went to co-editor Dennis Figg and Nancy Beitler also received a medal. Staff medals went to John Gouker and John Sheneman. Charms went to Shelly Bean. Konopka, Kim VanderHagen. Lisa Bauman and Donna Fries. The yearbook charms were presented by Mr. Gow in to editor Karen Mortakis and assistant editor. Chris Jones as well the staff members Kay Liggett. Karen Blosser, Karen Tisdale. Karen Wolfe, Michelle Harding, Lorrie Stephens, Lisa Zimmerle, Sue Konopka and Anita Kaser, and the key chains went to Scott Seifer, Dave Yoder and Dominic Ball. Bookstore helpers were honored with charms and they were Romona Ellis, Kathy Bertolan, Debra Rynearson and Teresa Singleton. The office assistants were presented charms from Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. VanderHagen to Christine Stachowski. Sue Konopka, Sharon Payne, Stephanie Blad, Linda Schultz. Lori Boomhower, Debbie Rynearson, Karen Blosser and Kathy Konopka. Guidance office assistants Patti Houser and Gwen McDonnell were presented charms from Mr. Hosinski. Audio-Visual assistants, Brian Albright, received a pin and certificate from Mrs. Jones while certificates were presented to Carl Borton and Tom Mapel. The four-year perfect attendance pins and certificates were awarded to Dennis Figg and David Jacox by Mr. Woodson. The ninth grade scholarship medal was presented by Mr. Miller to Suzanne Hartsough, Debra Kronk, Shelley Loucks, Daniel Sheneman and Mark VanderHagen. Honorable mentions were Elizabeth Humphries, Janet Schultz and James Rizek. The tenth grade scholarship medals were presented to Kim Dunnuck, Mary Jo Morey and Byron Shetler. Honorable mentions were Janet Knowlton and Michael Strycker. The eleventh grade medal went to Jannelle Jaworski, Frank Bertolan and Tim Frushour. Honorable mentions were Lisa Bauman, Laurel Smith. Jeff Figg and Alan Seiner. The seniors scholastic medals went to Nancy Beitler, Karen Mortakis, George Cole and honorable mentions were Gwen McDonnell and Dave Jacox. The salutatorian certificate presented by Mr. Davis to Nancy Beitler and Gwen McDonell the valedictorian precided the announcement of citizenship awards. Citizenship awards for the ninth grade went to Janet Schultz and John Gouker and honorable mentions were Shelly Loucks and Todd Allsop. The tenth grade citizenship awards went to Mary Jo Morey and Byron Shetler and the honorable mentions were Bonnie Downs and Mike Strycker. The eleventh grade winners were Amanda Yoder and Jeff Kronk while Lisa Bauman and Scott Toner were named the honorable mentions. The seniors receiving medals were Kathy Konopka and Dennis Figg and honorable mentions were Stephanie Blad and Dominic Ball. The American Legion award presented by the North Liberty Post 365 went to Karen Mortakis and George Cole. National Merit finalist George R. Cole, was honored. State scholarship winners include Nancy Beitler. George Cole, Dennis Figg, David Jacox, Christopher Jaworski. Gwendolyn McDonnell. Karen Mortakis, Frank Sailer and Scott Seifer. The North Liberty Tri Kappa sorority scholarship presented by Mrs. Julie Carr, went to Christopher Jaworski. Purdue University certificates of recognition for high academic honors were presented to George Cole. David Jacox and Frank Sailer. Lisa Zimmerle Installed As Worthy Advisor Miss Lisa Zimmerle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zimmerle, 101 Sylvia Drive, North Liberty, was
installed as Worthy Advisor of the North Liberty Assemble, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, on Saturday. May 21. The installing officers were worthy advisor. Mrs. Sheryl Schaap; installing marshall, Denise Sullivan; chaplain, Stefanie Blad; recorder, Jana Nelson; organist, Mrs. Juanita Manuel and soloists were Mrs. Becky Burch and Mrs. Elaine Wagner. Others being installed were worthy associate advisor, Anita Kaser; charity, Debbie Sheneman; hope, Sharri Snyder; faith, Elaine Ulbricht; drill leader, Nancy Goodman; chaplain. June 4 at the Palmer Carpet Cen ter, Koontz Lake, sponsored by the Koontz Lake Lionettes. The fund raising event will begin at 9:00 a.m.
