On Saturday. April 30th, Miss Elizabeth Anne Burkhart and Mr. Craig Allen DeMyer were united in marriage during a 2 o'clock in the afternoon double-ring ceremony in the United Methodist Church. Martinsville. Indiana, with Rev. John Cheesman officiating. The church was decorated with an archway of blue mums and bows and candle operas. Organist was Michael McNeff and soloist was Sam Leseman who sang, "Lady," and "If." Miss Burkhart is the daughter of Mrs. Marilyn Burkhart. Martinsville. and Mrs. Lowell Burkhart. Brownsburg. Indiana. Mr. DeMyer is the son of Mrs. Arthur DeMyer, Walkerton, and the late Arthur DeMyer. The bride was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father. The bride designed and made her gown which featured a high neckline of lace, a cathedral train with lace sleeves and cape with train. Lace

roses with seed pearls scattered over the entire gown highlighted with a fingertip veil of illusion. She carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses centered around an orchid with light blue carnations with trail of stephonata's and ribbons. Maid of honor was Suzie Burkhart. sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Paula Teeters, cousin of the bride, Martinsville; Jo Anne Jesse, Northbrook. Illinois, and Desi Dunn. Martinsville. Junior briedsmaid was Rebecca Burkhart, sister of the bride. The maid of honor wore a floor length light blue knit gown with accordian pleats and spaghetti straps featuring a chiffon caplet. The bridesmaids were attired in the same gowns only in light peach. The junior bridesmaid was in light blue and peach with flowers to match the other attendants, silk flower head bands and they carried a parosel with daisies.
Flower girl was Nichole Teeters, cousin of the bride, and she wore a white eyelet ruffled dress with light blue dotted swiss. Best man was Fisseha Mecuria, of Colorado. Groomsmen were Jack Chesebro, New York, Andrew Burkhart, brother of the bride, Martinsville, and Gene Knowlton, cousin of the groom, Walkerton. Lodge in Martinsville. A threetiered wedding cake with a fountain centered the serving table. Music was provided by Perfect Blend. Pelley Cassner registered the guests and helping with the serving were Becky Wrede and Cindy Drury. Ihe couple took a honeymoon through the Smokey Mountains and to Washington. D.C. They are residing at 206 Carolina Street. Walkerton. The bride is a 1972 graduate of Martinsville High School and she attended Indiana State University. Terry Haute and is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She is employed at Her Place. Walkerton. The groom is a 1969 graduate of John Glenn High School and a 1973 graduate of Indiana Central University with a bachelor of science degree. He received his masters degree from Colorado State University in 1975 and he is employed by Accurate Castings, LaPorte. Enjoy Lunch At Club Meeting A delightful spring salad luncheon brought the Walkerton Community Club ladies together at the Community Building on Friday, May 20 for the last meeting of their 1976-1977 year. Mans beautiful salads were served and Mrs. Frank Kramer’s flaky crescent rolls were really enjoyed by all. Tables were beautifully decorated with huge bouquets of peonies, iris and rhodedendron by the hostesses Mrs. John McCombs. Mrs. Frank Kramer. Mrs. Elliott Bobbs, Mrs. John Schamer and Mrs. Allen Seaholm. Miss Dorothea Brenner and Mrs. William Michalski also assisted as hostesses. Mrs. Margaret Moranek was welcomed as a guest. Mrs. Robert Bowman, president, presided at the business meeting which followed. She quoted from a modern parable which indicated that the harvest was ripe the laborers were few and also read an amusing and folksy poem by Edgar Guest. Miss Dorothea Brenner presented a touching and tender memorial service for Mrs. Geroge Lanphere. Mrs. William Hughes brought devotions to us. She read a lovely Helen Steiner Rice poem called ‘Soul of Man’ and reminded us that God is Love and that God loves you always, forever and lyIt was announced by Mrs. Philip Waldron that the club ladies furnished fourteen pies to the Ambulance Fund fish fry. Summing up the year’s work all of the department heads made a report of their progress and activities. With pride the club announces that four nursing scholarships were awarded this year to four worthy young nursing stu dents, namely Cynthia Matusiak, Carla Jeanne Cline, Barbara E. Rundle and Tom Scanlon. Miss Brenner proposed a motion that Mrs. Paul Hartman, Mrs. Ed Brooker and Mrs. Grover Oplinger be made honorary members which motion was unanimously carried. The anniversarv party committee brought alternate ideas of things to do and it was decided to have dinner and then attend a play called "Dames At Sea" on Thursday. June 23 at the Wagon Wheel Playhouse at Warsaw, Indiana. Members wishing to make reservations should call either Mrs. William Hughes at 586-3556 or Mrs. Paul Green at 586-2886 promptly. Guests will be welcome and rides will be furnished for those who need them.
This was a lovely meeting after a happy and fruitful year and members will be looking forward to getting together again in the fall. Official Visit Os District Deputy At OES Meeting The official visit of District 20. Deputy, Mrs. Fred (Chris) Rose, of Lakeville, highlighted the regular meeting of Walkerton Chapter 319, Order of the Easter Star. Tuesday evening. May 17. Worthy Matron, Becky Reed, welcomed all with a poem. "A Lovely Day”. Because of many conflicting dates there were many protems for officers, each doing beautiful work in their stations as the initiatory degrees were given for the pleasure of Mrs. Rowe. Proxy candidates were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Neindorf, who were initiated into the order at the May 3 meeting. Mrs. Rowe was escorted to the west following the opening and was greeted with a solo, "How Great Thou Art," sung by brother Al Brenner. When she reached the East she was introduced, and Mrs. Reed pinned on her alice blue gown, a pink corsage. Mr. Brenner sang during the initiatory degree ceremony.

Dates stressed to be remembered were June 3, Rainbow for Girls Assembly will have their installation at the Temple at 7:30 p.m.; June 4, the chapter will serve the alumni banquet and Mrs. Reed needs offers of help; June 11. the Fellowcraft Club of the F & AM Lcxige will be serving a sausage and pancake breakfast at the Temple from 6:(X) a.m. to ?; June 21 at the regular meeting, initiation for two candidates will be conferred . The charter was draped and a memorial was read for a departed sister. Laura Linton, who died recently in Cassopolis. Michigan. Mrs. Rowe explained changes recently made at the Indiana Grand Chapter Session in procedure. It is her duty to aid all chapters in Dis trict 20. in offering to both officers and sideliners the changes. Her aim is perfection and because both she and her husband. Fred, have been frequent visitors in the Walk erton chapter, made close relation ships. Hosting the social hour were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry and Mrs. Harry McMahon. Mrs. Reed’s decor used for her installation as Worthy Matron was used in the dining room as a courtesy to the honored guest that evening. A man's real worth is determined by what he does when he has nothing to do.
