WALKERTON TOWN BOARD NEWS The Board of Irustccs of the Lown of Walkerton met Monday night tor their regular meeting with all members present The meeting was presided over by president William I Elkin. Following a motion and approval, the minutes of the previous meeting were dis pensed with and approved. Claims 235 to 256 were read and approved for payment. Wayne Burch and Ed Walz, representing the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, requested assistance in cleaning up the downtown business district. Chuck Baker, fire chief, said his men would cooperate with the ( hamber in doing the job once a month. They agreed that early Sundav morning, starting the 22nd of May. would be the best time. Mr and Mrs. Orvil Snodgrass, owners of the building next to the cemetery on the south side of U. S. 6. requested annexation into the town of Walkerton so that they could begin construction of a garage. The board expressed their feelings that they had considered annexing that property plus the cemetery property . A bid for the painting of the clerk treasurer s office was presented by Regina Wells. cepted. Ihe board granted permission for the Clerk-Treasurer to attend a free seminat on Federal Grants in Fort Wayne. Linder Pearish gave a report on the money collected so far for the ambulance fund. To date they have $27,5^3.29 plus $1 ,(XX).(X) to be collected from the Walk-A-Thon. The following people have been selected to act as the Ambulance Board. Cheryl Rizek. Mike Amor. Judy Mercer, (lark Dare, Dean Anderson. Lloyd Stephenson. Michael Corbett. William Elkin and Kathryn Tiede. Fire chief Baker stated the portable pump at the fire station needs to be replace. The cost of replacing it would be $375. O. C. White made such a motion, seconded by Gladys Prentis. and it was unanimously approved by the board. Leo Savoie, representing the residents of the Glenn L Estates, expressed concern over the speeding on Underwood Road. He asked that some consideration be given the problem and the possibility of speed limit signs being posted. The board had a special session with the Walkerton Police Department to try and establish a better communications between the two. Some differences were settled and hopefully matters will be handled more smoothly in the future. One of the problems concerned the speeding problem in town. The board will adopt an ordinance stating the speed limit on each individual street in accordance with

the individual problems of each street. GROVERTOWN AND O D ALUMNI BANQUET SET The Grovertown and OregonDavis Alumni Association annual banquet will be held on Saturday. June 4 with the affair to be held in the Hamlet American Legion beginning at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will be followed by dancing from 9:(X) to 12:00 midnight with music provided by "Quota."
