Roy and Ruth DeSimone were honored for their years of service to he elderly and their contributions to our community during the monthly birthday party held on Ihursday night at the Miller's Merry Manor, formerly the Walk rton Nursing Home, owned and managed by the DeSimones, who sold the home to the Millers this month. Mrs. Jo Drews, activities chairman. pinned a corsage on Mrs. DeSimone and then read from the staff. “May happiness surround vou, in everything you do, and may this be the beginning of a future that holds in store success, gixxl luck, good friends, gixxi times, plus all you're wishing for." The Dixie Walkers Square Dancers danced for our entertainment. Many toes were tapping and hands i lapping. Smiles were the order of the night. May 12. George. Rev. Richmond, Rev. Hodson and Rev. Cole. COUNTY LINE CLUB MEETS The County Line Club members enjoyed their meeting on Monday evening. May lb in the country home of Mrs. Thomas Walsh. Mrs. Lloyd Smith was the assisting hostess. During the business meeting it was announced what help we have given to the ambulance fund. Also we were looking into what kind of an eating our group may enjoy this sum mer. Door prizes went to Mrs. Philip
Waldron. Sr.. Mrs. Wyman Hochstetler. Mrs. Rudolph Elder and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn. Sr. Game prizes went to Mrs. Herald Hostetler. Mrs. Waldron. Sr., and Mrs. Edward Pogodz.inski. The ending to a beautiful evening came when the delicious refreshments were served. MAY 15 -22 IS SOIL STEWARDSHIP WEEK Our entire food supply depends on gixid stewardship of the soil and this is highlighted from Mav 15 to May 22 with Soil Stewardship Week, according to James D. Bar nett, head of the natural resources department. Indiana Earm Bureau. Inc. The theme for the week will be “When We Care." Barnett points out that our entire existence depends on that vital thin band of b to 12 inches of top soil in areas w here crops and fixxl can be grown. Without that top soil, we can not grow the quantities of fixxl necessary for sustainging our U. S. population or people in other parts of the w orld. Hoosierland is a vital part of the “Bread Basket of the World" and its largest organization of farmers, the Indiana Earm Bureau. Inc., vigorouslv supports a constructive program for soil and water conser vation hxallv and nationally. It emphasizes that long-range land use planning be based on the capabilities of the various tv pcs of soils within each conservation district. Barnett points out that the freedom which the farmer needs to manage and sustain his cropland and future foixl production could be adversely affected in the future under strict regulatory programs in
