Potato Creek Festival Plans Are Revealed A recently formed committee has announced initial plans for a twophase Potato Creek Festival to be held in North Liberty in July and August. 1977. The events will be held in conjunction with the anticipated opening of the Potato Creek State Park in North Liberty this summer. The annual parade, a tradition in North Liberty, will be held on Monday. July 4. at 2:00 p.m. Entitled the "Potato Creek 4th of July Parade". it will feature high school bands, floats, twirling units, antique cars, drill teams, fraternal units, etc. Trophies will be awarded in all categories. The North Liberty American Legion will have a hog roast on the same day, with serving to commence at 11:00 a.m. A park fair will be held throughout the afternoon and evening. The climax of the 4th activities will be the annual fireworks exhibition in the city park by the North Liberty Fire Department. Any group or organization wishing to enter the parade may write or contact the committee through the chairman. Gaylord Saltzgaber, at 107 S. Main Street in North Liberty . Indiana, or use the blank provided in this paper. The second phase of the season will be the "Potato Creek Festival" during Friday and Saturdav. August 12 and 13. Details arc still being worked out and finalized; however, preliminary plans already call for a street fair, square dancing in the street, booths by the various merchants and organizations, art displays, potato decorating contests. and other activities in keeping with the Potato (reek theme. The committee that is planning both phases of the celebration is comprised of Charles Bare. Connie Cowan. Lorraine Perkins. Carl Kaser. Virginig Rose, Barbara Zimmerlc and Gaylord Salt/gaber. chairman. Special consultant throughout the preliminary planning has been Potato Creek Park employee. Claude Sheneman.
