Mrs. Sidnev Smith and Miss Ethel Bierly went on a tour by bus last Thursday, leaving LaPorte at b:3O am., to Brvan. Ohio. There they began their tour through the art factory, which was exceptionally interesting. Next they were taken through the Pet Milk Factory and given 45 minutes to spend downtown to shop or whatever they wished to do. They then had a 1:00 p.m. lunch at the Bavarian Inn. After lunch they went through the Spangler Candy Co. and Corny's Shop. At four o'clock they started for home arriving at 6:30 p.m. in LaPorte. tired but having had a very good time and pleasant day. There were two bus loads and 87 ladies made the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Knowlton came home last Tuesday from their winter's stay in Lake Placid. Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dipert will be hosts for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club's dinner Saturday evening in the club house. Games and visiting will be the entertainment for an hour after the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Elder spent several days last week in Paynsville. Kentucky, with relatives. Mr. Elder has four sisters living there and with his birthday April 18. they had a family celebration for Mr. Elder. Mrs. Robert Gore, of Crete. Illinois, and Mrs. James Rook, of Chicago, were here Thursday to spend the day with their mother, Mrs. Fayette Dunn. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dunn and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Elder were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daniels. Mrs. Bertha Daube. Mrs. Hazel Arseneau. Mrs. Regina Wells. Mrs. Hazel Schultz. Mrs. Ann Jackson and Mrs. Mamie Hahn attended an all day meeting of the St. Joseph County Extension club last Tuesday, held at the Zion United Methodist Church near Bremen. Sunday Mrs. Mamie Hahn attended a Mother-Daughter Banquet. a guest of her daughter. Mrs. Pauline Farrar, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Bremen. The speaker for the event was a lady from Mishawaka, who is known as ■ The Lady From Kentucky." Mrs. Richard Monhaut and daughter Michelle, of Bremen, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rensberger. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and family. This was a birthday dinner honoring Mrs. Everett Baker and other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baker and family, of Bremen. Miss Paula Hasee, of San Diego, California, is here visiting her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Houser. Mrs. Susan Taylor, of Monroe, Michigan, and Mrs. Pansy Noakes, of Kingsbury, Indiana, were Mon-
day guests of Mrs. Esther Kaufman. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Klopfenstein and Donna, were Arthur Noteboon, of South Holland. Illinois, and Miller P. Jones, Jr., of Kennewith, Washington. Mrs. Viola Bregi spent a week with her son. Robert, and family, in Livonia, Michigan, to attend the graduation of her granddaughter, Cindi, from the University of Michigan. Mrs. Lucile Ward, Mrs. Vylet Baker and Mrs. Fayette Dunn were in South Bend Tuesday to call on Mrs. Alta Rensberger. Mrs. Bud Hunt entertained the members of her bunco club Tuesday morning. NAOMI FELLOWSHIP MEETS The Naomi Fellowship of the United Methodist Church met at the home of Mrs. Alta Bowers with 12 members present. Mrs. Mary Buaer, chairperson, opened the meeting with a little quotation. The secretary’s report was read and approved. Mrs. Etta Mae Milner gave the devotions reading several great thoughts and quotations. She also read, “Suppose” and “If Jesus Came To Your House Today." All prayed the Lord's prayer. Mrs. Nora Hahn and Mrs. Alma Daube joined the group. An invitation was given to attend the birthday party on May 25 at Hamilton Grove. The lesson was given by Mrs. Weltha Burnside. She read a poem. "Smile” and "What Olivia Walton Taught Me.” from the October 1976 Guidepost. She also read the poem. “Hands.” The next meeting will be with Mrs. Gus Verkier. Mrs. Albert Huhnke. Jr., gave the table prayer. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. MARK A. LUTE RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP Mark A. Lute, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Lute, route 1, Walkerton, received the S2OO Henry Mayo Scholarship Award which was established by the Indiana Livestock Breeders Association after Mayo, a longtime member of Purdue’s animal science department. retired in 1969. Selection of the recipient is based on three semesters of studies, extra-curri-cular activites. leadership, citizenship and interest in animal agriculture. Mark is a 1974 graduate of Plymouth High School where he was vice president of the Future
Farmers of America chapter and elected to the National Honor Society. He served as State FFA president in 1974-75. At Purdue he has earned a 5.93 graduation index through three semesters of work while serving as a sophomore representative on the Agricultural Council and on the Purdue Student Housing Cooperative Board. Recently he was elected vice president of both the Agricultural Council and the cooperative board. The cash award will be available next fall and his name will be engraved on the plaque which hangs in the Lilly Hall of Life Sciences and in the Agricultural Administration building. The award was announced on Sunday, April 24 at the annual Block and Bridle and Diary Club picnic of Purdue University. Akron and Warsaw Rainbow Assemblies, held at the Masonic Lodge in Bourbon. Mrs. Hazel Thompson Coates, Supreme Inspector of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls in Indiana, supervised the inspection of the four assemblies.

ATTENDS MOTHER ADVISOR LUNCHEON Those attending the Mother Advisors luncheon, held in Warsaw, on Sunday, April 17 from the Walkerton Assembly were Mrs. Jo Drews. Grand Deputy District 26; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Whitteberry, Grand Chairman of District 26; Mrs. Florence Erickson. Mother Advisor; Mrs. John Peterson and Mrs. Retta Williams, both of the Walkerton Advisory Board. ATTENDS CULVER MEETING AND INITIATION On Monday evening. April 17, Mrs. Florence Erickson, Mother Advisor and Mrs. John Peterson, Advisory Board of the Walkerton Rainbow Assembly, attended the meeting of the Culver Rainbow Assembly. They witnessed the initiation of Connie Walters and Mary Ellen Wait, who became new members of the Culver Rainbow Assembly International Rainbow for Girls in Indiana. MOTHER AND DANGHTER BANQUET WEDNESDAY The annual United Methodist Church Mother and Daughtger Banquet is Wednesday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the John Glenn High School dining commons. Tickets are $2.25 each; children under five do not require tickets, but will need reservations. Tickets must be purchased by May 2 and are available at the Church office. A special program will be presented by the Lovelight Puppets, from Auburn, Indiana United Methodist Church. UONETTES TO MEET The Koontz Lake Lionettes will meet on Monday. May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Viola Bregi. Installation of officers will be held.
