Leaving South Bend March 15, they were housed in a motel in the town of West Yellowstone, where to get anywhere they walked or used their snow mobiles. The first two days they traveled about seventy miles in the park, seeing Old Faithful do his act and gliding through the glaciers, taking along box lunches, the next three days were spent in the Grand Canyon of the park, riding the routes of Montana and Idaho. Climbing the mountains to Two Top and Lions Head with a degree of 8 below, with a guide, was breath taking, not to mention eleven hearts beatiing too fast and wishing they had investigated this venture a bit more. They reported seeing large herds of buffalo, elk. coyotes, mule deer, moose, Canadian geese and many birds. The group were driving Arti-Cat snowmobiles, which was furnished by the tour. Mrs. Pickavet said the park was closed to the general public at this time, as to hotel, etc., service because of the deep snow, there was one other group in the park at the time they were there all under the attention of the tour company. They returned the evening of March 21. All total, they traveled by snow nobile about 600 miles and no one kept track of the miles they w alked as no cars were used in the park.
